Scotland Women's Open Touch

What is Touch? Touch is a fast paced, minimal contact sport played on a pitch which is roughly 50m by 70m. Games consist of 2 20 minute halves.

We are the Scotland Women's Open Touch squad, currently preparing for the 2022 Touch European Championships to be held in Nottingham in the first week of August. Each team has 6 players on the pitch at one time with rolling subs. Touch can be played in mixed or single s*x teams and by people of all ages. The game consists of a combination of running, passing, attacking moves and tactical plays. Pl

ayers therefore need to have a high level of fitness, speed and agility. Communication on the pitch is also key. The aim of the game is to score a touchdown over the score line, with one touchdown gaining one point. Each team gets 6 “touches” to try and score. The aim of the defence is to defend the attackers driving up the field and to stop touchdowns from happening by making a “touch” on the attacking players. After six touches it is a turnover ball and the defending team the become attackers. There are a lot of other aspects of the game which combine make a fast paced an exciting sport. Coach: you guided the team and provided us with an amazing environment to learn and grow in, thank you for all of your time and efforts in getting us there this season

Physio: well… you held us together with tape, released tight muscles and provided pitchside recovery for many of us over the course of the weekend, we physically couldn’t have done it without your support

Manager: you made sure we were hydrated, musiced and our valuables were secure
