Un piccolo villaggio di pescatori con il suo porticciolo, la vecchia tonnara, le vecchie case e la grande e bella piazza dominata da quella che era la residenza estiva della famiglia Nicolaci. A Marzamemi è bello godersi una bella granita di caffè, limone o mandorla oppure comprare i tipici prodotti di tonnara nel luogo di produzione (e la puzza di pesce ne è la prova lampante). D'estate Marzamemi si rianima in serata con gli happy hour nei bar della piazza principale, musica dal vivo, spettacoli teatrali, rassegne di cinema.



It is a small fishing village with its harbor, the old tonnara, the old fishermen's houses and the beatiful and large main square dominated by what once was the summer residence of the Nicolaci Family. In Marzamemi you really can enjoy a coffee, almond, lemon granita or buy typical fish products in the place where they produce it (and the fish smell it's a clear evidence). In summer Marzamemi comes alive in the evening whit happy hours in the bars in the main square, live music, theater performances, film events and much more in the night.

La spiaggia di Calamosche è considerata una delle più belle d'Italia e si trova tra le rovine archeologiche di Eloro e l'oasi naturale di Vendicari. E' situata tra due speroni rocciosi che rendono il mare quasi sempre tranquillo e ci sono diverse piccole grotte.
Per raggiungerla bisogna camminare 15-20 minuti su un sentiero nella macchia mediterranea partendo dal parcheggio e c'è da considerare l'assenza di bar ed attrezzature da spiaggia.

The beach Calamosche is located between the archaeological remains of Eloro and wildlife oasis Vendicari.

It is located between two rocky headlands that make it that the sea is almost always quiet. Another feature of the beach is the presence of numerous cavities and Grotticelle two rocky promontories.
To reach the beach Calamosche you must walk 15-20 minutes along a path surrounded by the Mediterranean maquis, after leaving the car in the parking lot at the edge of the reserve.

No bar, no bathing facilities.

The beach is set in a bay where the water is exceptionally clear.
It is regarded as one of the most beatifukl beaches in Italy

Portopalo deve il suo fascino al mare, al porto e alle attività legate alla pesca, alla profonda anima mediterranea.
Al porto, ogni sera al tramonto (ma è meglio informarsi prima) si svolge l'asta al mercato del pesce.
Sull'isola delle correnti non c'è niente di speciale a parte un posto militare abbandonato con un faro e molti scogli, con una vegetazione bassa tra cui predomina la palma nana, endemica.
Il bello è l'idea che quest'isola segna il punto di divisione tra il mar Ionio e il Mediterraneo e ci si arriva con una leggera difficoltà, camminando con attenzione su uni fondo roccioso, in cui l'acqua arriva massimo a livello delle spalle.
Poi ti trovi davvero davanti il Mediterraneo, quello stesso mare che ha inghiottito migliaia di persone che volevano raggiungere la Fortezza Europa.

On the Isola delle Correnti there is nothing special, if not an abandoned military post with a lighthouse and a beautiful reef, as well as wild vegetation low and not very dense.
The beautiful is the idea that this island, serve as a symbolic watershed between the Ionian Sea and the Mediterranean Sea: the same feeling you have being on the meridian of Greenwich with a foot one side and one on the other.
The island is separated from the mainland by the sea but you can walk with the water reaching maximum your waist or shoulder. Even if the crossing is made slightly difficult by the fact that the seabed is not sandy but made from large rocks finally finding yourself on the other side is a unmissable and inexplicable feeling to have the Mediterranean sea in front of you.
Unfortunately the same sea in wich thousands of people died trying to reach the Fortress Europe
