𝐖𝐇𝐀𝐓 𝐓𝐎 𝐄𝐀𝐓 𝐈𝐅 𝐘𝐎𝐔’𝐑𝐄 𝐎𝐕𝐄𝐑 𝟒𝟎 ?
I always say that the older I get the better I get 🙂 Yes - just like a fine wine right?! So Turning 40 is actually great, but you might notice some changes in your body.
Maybe losing weight isn’t as easy, or you don’t have the same energy as before. That’s because your body is changing, and it’s all about hormones and other stuff happening inside you!
When you turn 40, hormones like estrogen (for women) start to change ( they drop) . Estrogen helps keep your body in balance, but as you get older, you have less of it.
This can make it easier to gain weight and harder to lose it.
Also, a hormone called ghrelin, which makes you feel hungry, can become more active. So, you might feel hungrier even when you don’t need more food!
So now is maybe the most important time to have a look at your nutrition!
𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝗱𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗸𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗯𝗼𝗱𝘆 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝘆:
1️⃣ Lean Proteins: Foods like chicken, turkey, and fish (like salmon) help keep your muscles strong and give you energy.
2️⃣ Whole Grains: Brown rice, quinoa, and oats are great because they give you lots of energy and fiber to help you feel full.
3️⃣ Fruits and Veggies: Spinach, kale, berries, and oranges are packed with vitamins and help your body fight off germs.
4️⃣ Healthy Fats: Avocados, nuts, seeds, and olive oil are good for your heart and help you feel full longer.
5️⃣ Dairy and Alternatives: Greek yogurt and plant-based milks like almond or soy milk are good for your bones and muscles.
And as I have talked about so many times - now is the time to start doing strength training if you havent already! Stay active - do what you really enjoy doing!
Hydration must be sport on 2 - 3 l daily to keep you body running.
So, while your body might be changing, eating these foods can help you stay strong, healthy, and full of energy.
