This is our longest tour of Reykjanesbæ and it offers to see local town and nature around the corner.
The trip is all from sidewalks to a little off-road and some small hills, considerable time is spent on bikes.
We set up from your hotel/motel/guesthouse and ride around Reykjanesbær starting the tour by riding through Keflavík into Njarðvík along the ponds where there is a colourful and beautiful birdlife during the summertime. Along the ride we stop by a replica of a 10th century Viking sword and the head to a manmade hill with a beautiful view of the whole Reykjanes. Next stop is down to Kópa that is were in the old days they came in with fish and worked on it on land and there is also an old ruins of houses from the last century.
The tour keeps on along the beautiful seashore toward an old church build in 1886, little further down is an “art gallery” made of children in kindergartens in the area. Then we head of to visit the Vikings at the Viking museum Víkingarheimar where the full size Viking ship is inside along with the history of the northern Vikings. Next to Víkingarheimar is a “zoo” with animals from the settlement time, like sheep’s, goats and much more.
Along the seashore is an turf house from 1885 and all the docks of Reykjanesbær and a little light house from 1921, from the we ride along the shore with beautiful view of docks for small boats. We head over there to take a look at the TROLL CAVE where there is a 150m2 troll cave with a full size troll named Sigga. From there we take a ride through the oldest part of Keflavík and see lovely well keept houses and end our tour in one of the heated outdoor swimming pool , hot tubs and sauna.
