Kamalgad Trek
On an otherwise hot day of October, a somewhat pleasant weather in Wai, in the district of Satara, helped us reach a height of 4200 ft with relative ease.
Kamalgad (lotus fort) also known as Kattalgad (death fort) [ a rather morbid name for an otherwise beautiful fort] seems like a less frequented fort by trekkers.
Considering its height, it is a rather easy trek which offers plenty of green pastures, a somewhat brittle soil in between (which makes it difficult to hold your ground) and a good panoramic view overlooking the backwaters of the Dhom Dam.
If you were to visit this fort, the only advice would be to carry plenty of water to keep you hydrated at intervals and enough healthy eatables to supplement the energy consumed during the climb.
So if you are looking for a one day trek option, it certainly fits the bill.
