Special Olympics Bharat has proudly supported Special Olympics Bhutan as the Technical Partner for the successful completion of the 3-Day Unified Champion School Workshop, held from 5โ7 August 2026.
The collaboration has focused on strengthening the technical capacity of educators, coaches and sports stakeholders to create inclusive sporting environments where athletes with and without intellectual disabilities can learn, play and lead together.
As part of the technical partnership, SO Bharat has contributed to the design and structure of the workshop and provided expert support across theoretical and practical learning sessions. Ms. Sonika Dahiya, Participant & Master Trainer, ESPN National Coaching Excellence Program 2026, has led a session on understanding intellectual disabilities, disability rights and inclusion, while Mr. Mayesh Pokhrel, Participant, Lions SO Bharat Unified Coaches Empowerment Series 2026, has addressed inclusive coaching, athlete-centred approaches and sports adaptation.
The practical coaching and sports-specific technical sessions across Bocce, Futsal, Badminton, Table Tennis and Athletics have been supported by Mr. Mithun Lawson, Participant, Lions SO Bharat Unified Coaches Empowerment Series 2026, strengthening participantsโ understanding and application of inclusive coaching practices.
This regional collaboration reflects the shared commitment of SO Bharat and SO Bhutan to strengthening inclusive education and sports systems through knowledge exchange, technical capacity building and sustainable partnerships.
