Rudugaira Gad (med.) - V4A3III
A short, but amazing canyoning section in a huge river and gorge. The water is fed by the glaciers of Gangotri I-III and Jogin I & II (all above 6000m).
Descending in the flow is unpossible, so we had to find a safe line next to it. Still so amazing to see the inside with it's beautiful orange colours and amazing shapes formed by the power of the water.
These rivers, laying at the source of the Ganges river are believed (and proved) to hold antibacterial qualities, next to it's spiritual significance. The holi water, also referred to as "gangajal", is proved to remain clear and free from micriobial growth for years and not to decay easily. It has a high dissolved oxygen content, which allows it to remain 'alive' and self-purifying.
The specific composition of the "gangajal" might declare the orange colour that's left on the rock, which can also be seen on parts of the river, close to the temple.
There are still a superior and inferior part left to be opened. Both are short as the medior part, but intense and immensly beautiful. The inferior part has less water is part is taken by a powerplant, but it's very continuous and lot's of watermovement in the small pools. The superior part has a crazy first waterfall (with double jets), but falls into a very narrow section, which looked too dangerous at first. All are easy accesible with the Rudugaira peak trekking path, crossing the river.
