LiFFA Trivandrum 1 - 2 Prathibha FC

B Division League 2024-25 | Round 2

A tough day at the office for LiFFA Trivandrum as we suffered a 1-2 defeat against Prathibha FC in our second-round fixture.

Despite starting strong with our trademark possession-based attacking style, two quick defensive lapses in the first half saw us trailing 0-2 at the break.

The boys came out fighting in the second half, and in the 60th minute, Emmanuel pulled one back from the penalty spot after a clear handball in the box. We pushed hard till the final whistle, creating multiple chances, but couldn’t find the equalizer.

We regroup and go again. 💪

👏 *Congratulations, Lathin Varghese!*👏

We are thrilled to share that *Lathin Varghese* has been appointed as the Goalkeeper Coach of *SAT FC Kerala in I-League 2!* This is a historic achievement as he becomes the first goalkeeper coach from the Trivandrum and Kanyakumari coastal region to reach this level.

Lathin’s journey is a testament to his *dedication, commitment, and unconditional love for football*. A former goalkeeper of *LIFFA Trivandrum*, he has represented *Joy University in the All India Inter University Championships* and played for *Trivandrum District team* in various categories of the *Kerala State Championship since 2015.*

His coaching career has been equally impressive. As the *Head Coach* of *Joy University*, he led the team to the All India Inter University Championship in his very first season! He has also successfully completed his *AFC “C” License* and specialized in *Football Analytics using Python.*

Jaison Patrick Appointed as Performance Analyst of Joy University Football Team for All India Inter University Football Championship 2025! ⚽

We proud to announce that Jaison Patrick has been appointed as the Performance Analyst of Joy University football team for the prestigious All India Inter University Football Championship 2025.

A former LIFFA player, Jaison has been serving as the Performance Analyst of the Joy University football team since June 2024. His expertise played a crucial role in the team’s outstanding performance, securing a third-place finish in their debut season at the South Zone Inter University Football Championship held in Calicut, December 2024.

Jaison’s deep understanding of the game, both as a player and analyst, has been instrumental in Joy University becoming the first-ever team to qualify for the All India Football Championship in debut season. Having completed his Football Analytical Course in 2023, he has also contributed as a performance analyst for various LIFFA age-category teams.

Currently pursuing an MBA at Joy University, Jaison continues to balance his dual role as a player and performance analyst, bringing valuable insights and strategies to the team.

Lathin Varghese Appointed as Head Coach of Joy University Football Team

We are thrilled to announce that Lathin Varghese has been appointed as the Head Coach of Joy University for the All India Inter University Men’s Football Championship 2025. A former LiFFA player, Lathin brings a strong foundation in modern football trends, combining his playing experience with a passion for coaching.

Lathin previously served as Assistant Coach for Joy University during the South Zone Inter University Football Championship held in Calicut. His coaching journey has been deeply influenced by Cleofas Alex, under whom he played for 10 years at LiFFA and now works alongside as an assistant.

Currently, he is also serving as a player-cum-coach for Joy University, further showcasing his versatility and leadership on and off the field. He recently completed his AFC ‘C’ License and Football Analytical Course, further strengthening his expertise in tactical and technical aspects of the game.

Additionally, Lathin has coaching experience at the grassroots level, having worked as an Assistant Coach for LiFFA Trivandrum’s team in the KPL 2nd Division League. His dedication, energy, and enthusiasm make him a promising young coach for the future.

Congratulations to Coach Mohammed Navas!

We are proud to announce that Mohammed Navas, our LiFFA U-15 Coach, has successfully completed his AFC ‘B’ License coaching course!

With four years of dedicated service as the U-15 coach, Navas has also led the LiFFA Reserve Team in the Reliance Foundation Development League (RFDL), guiding the team to the All India Round in 2022-2023.

His passion for modern football and deep tactical knowledge earned him a coaching role at LiFFA in 2022, where his commitment has played a crucial role in the team’s remarkable achievements.

*Joy University Crushes Hem Chandra University, Durg 7-2, Creates History in All India Inter University Football Championship*.

*Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh – Monday:* Joy University scripted history in the All India Inter University Football Championship by becoming the first-ever debut team to qualify for the pre-quarterfinals in its very first appearance. The team delivered a commanding performance in their final league match, thrashing Hem Chandra University, Durg 7-2.

Joy University took control of the match in the 38th minute when Sabin converted a precise cross from Emmanuel’s powerful right-flank drive. Just two minutes later, the duo combined again, this time with Sabin breaking through the left flank and setting up Emmanuel, who calmly slotted the ball into the net to double the lead before halftime.

Hem Chandra University, Durg responded with a goal in the 50th minute through a swift counterattack, reducing the deficit to 2-1. However, Joy University quickly reasserted dominance, launching a relentless attacking spree. Vineeth stole the show with a stunning hat-trick, while Sanu and Shanu added a goal each to the tally.

*Emmanuel’s Brace Seals Joy University’s Dominant Victory*

Joy University extended their winning streak in ongoing All India Inter University Football Championship at Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh with a commanding 3-1 victory over Manipur DM University, thanks to a brace from Emmanuel and a goal from Sabin. The match saw Joy University dominate possession, with midfield maestros Saivin and Jobin dictating play and creating multiple scoring opportunities.

The game got off to a fast start as Emmanuel struck early, giving Joy University the lead within the opening minutes. However, Manipur responded swiftly, finding an equalizer just 10 minutes later to level the score at 1-1.

Joy University came out strong in the second half, immediately putting pressure on Manipur’s defense. Their persistence paid off when Sabin found the back of the net in the 50th minute, restoring their lead. The relentless attacking continued, and soon after, Shikku provided a precise assist for Emmanuel, who netted his second goal of the match, sealing a well-deserved 3-1 victory.
