[23/10, 9:53 pm] Meghalathanagaraj: Meghalatha and the Song of the Monsoon ๐ง๏ธ
In a quiet village nestled at the edge of a great forest, where the wind spoke in whispers and the earth smelled of rain, lived a girl named Meghalatha. Her name meant โborn of the clouds,โ and true to it, the skies seemed to listen to her moods.
Meghalatha wasnโt ordinary. While other children played games under the mango trees, she wandered through the mist, listening to the wind, speaking to the rivers, and collecting secrets from the rain. People in the village often said, โIf Meghalatha smiles, the skies clear. If she frowns, a storm is near.โ
But one year, the monsoon didnโt come.
The crops withered, the ponds dried, and despair crept into every home. The elders gathered and prayed, but the clouds remained stubborn. Meghalatha, though still a child, knew what had to be done.
One night, guided only by moonlight and instinct, she ventured deep into the ancient forest, seeking the forgotten Rain Spirit, a being from stories told by her grandmother. Through tangled roots and echoes of old songs, she reached the heart of the forest โ a lake that shimmered like glass, untouched by drought.
There, she sang.
It wasnโt a song she learned. It came from her heart โ sorrow for her village, love for the land, and a plea to the skies. Her voice rose, pure and haunting, echoing through the canopy.
The wind stirred. The lake rippled. Then โ thunder.
Rain began to fall.
It poured for three days and nights, soaking the parched fields, filling the empty rivers, and bringing joy back to the village. People danced, children laughed, and the elders whispered, โShe truly is born of the clouds.โ
From that day on, whenever the monsoon clouds gathered over the village, they did so with a special softness, as if bowing to a promise made long ago โ to a girl named Meghalatha, who sang to the sky and brought life back to the earth.
