Inter-School Hockey Championship Showcases Young Talent at Polo Ground
The Inter-School Hockey Championship continued with great enthusiasm at the Polo Ground, where Handwara produced a remarkable performance to defeat Uri by an emphatic 8–0 margin. The match reflected the growing standard of hockey among young players and the spirit of healthy competition.
The championship is being organized by Bader Hockey Club in collaboration with Hockey J&K and the J&K Sports Council, creating an outstanding platform for budding athletes from across Kashmir to display their talent and passion for the game.
Mr. Raja Ghulam Nabi Wani, the Chief Guest on the occasion, highly appreciated the efforts of Bader Hockey Club for successfully organizing such a prestigious event. He stated that bringing together young players from different parts of Kashmir on one platform is a significant contribution to the development of hockey and the promotion of sports culture in the region.
Mr. Wani, himself a former National Hockey player and former Captain of the Jammu & Kashmir Hockey Team, received a warm welcome from the young players, who were delighted and inspired to meet a personality who has represented the region at the national level.
While addressing the gathering, Mr. Wani announced that preparations are in full swing for the 10th National Champions Trophy Hockey Championship to be held in Srinagar. He informed that the opening match at the Polo Ground will be played between J&K Police and Uttar Pradesh, while the second match will feature Delhi against National Sports Club. He expressed confidence that the championship will further strengthen hockey in Jammu & Kashmir and inspire the next generation of players.
Mr. Wani also extended his heartfelt congratulations to Bader Hockey Club for organizing such a beautiful championship and expressed hope that even bigger sporting events will be hosted in the future for the benefit of young athletes across the region.
