Today, we’re more interested in what happens when we slow down. The people we meet. The places we pass through. The small moments you might miss when you’re too focused on reaching the destination.

Maybe the Himalayas teach you that you don’t always need to go further. Sometimes, you just need to pay more attention.

Heading back into the High Country: Srinagar to Ladakh 🏔️🚗

We’ve driven from Srinagar to Ladakh before, but the Himalaya rarely gives you the same journey twice.

Behind the wheel of the Mahindra Scorpio N, it was another reminder of why we keep returning to these mountains. Not just for the roads, but for the landscapes, the quiet moments and everything we encounter along the way.

Leaving the valley behind, but never the spirit of exploration.

Marwah Valley threw every raw, unpredictable element at us, from rocky ascents and riverbeds to narrow cliffside tracks. In terrain like this, confidence comes down to what connects you to the ground. Our expedition with Yokohama India made every mile seamless, keeping us moving through the wildest corners of the Himalayas.

The road into Marwah was never just a way to reach a destination.

Along the way, it became a passage through changing weather, mountain villages, forests, rivers, seasonal movement and the everyday lives of people who call these mountains home.

We stopped more than we expected. We shared meals, met families, watched the weather change and found ourselves paying attention to things we might otherwise have simply driven past.

Marwah wasn't just about the road that took us there.

It was the rain, the mountains, meals cooked along the way, a warm homestay, people we met, animals on the road, and the many moments when there was simply no reason to hurry.

A few moments from our journey into Marwah Valley with Mahindra Adventure and the Mahindra Scorpio N.

There are places where you stay for a night, and then there are places where you feel welcomed as though you have been there before.

In Yurdoo, Marwah Valley, we stayed with Ghulam Mohiuddin Lone Saab, a retired school teacher, and his warmhearted family. What made the stay special was not just the house or the incredible views around it, but the generosity and warmth with which they welcomed us into their home.

Much of what we ate came directly from their own land. Fresh vegetables from the kitchen garden, apples from the trees, corn growing all around the house, and food prepared with the kind of simplicity and flavour that comes from knowing exactly where it comes from.

Farah spent some time exploring their kitchen garden, while we spent time talking, eating and simply being part of the household for a while.

Our photograph together in front of their home says more than we could write. We arrived as travellers and left with the feeling that we had been guests of friends.

Every journey brings changing roads and changing conditions. Smooth stretches give way to broken roads. Dry surfaces turn to mud. Rain changes the landscape and sometimes the road itself.

Through it all, one thing remains constant: what connects you to the ground matters. And thats where we trust our Yokohama Geolandars.
