Hidden deep in the forests of Boniyar, Kashmir. Dudran reminded us that exploration does not always have to be loud.

Through narrow mountain trails, traditional wooden homes, flowing streams, and landscapes shaped by nature, this journey became less about the destination and more about moving responsibly through places that still live gently with the mountains.

The story of Kashmir’s Milk Village — now online.

By the time we crossed Boniyar in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, the road had already begun to thin into the mountains.

Srinagar felt far behind us. Traffic disappeared first, and then came long silences between scattered homes, army bunkers, and roadside shops. Dense deodar forests slowly closed around the road, turning the journey into something slower and more intimate.

From winding forest roads in Boniyar to the quiet valleys of Dudran, this journey became far more than an expedition for us.

What began as a family road trip turned into a deep cultural experience — living with locals, learning about the traditional Doud Khots powered by spring water, sharing meals beneath walnut trees, and witnessing a way of life that still moves with the rhythm of the mountains.
