Lokendra Football Academy Concludes Month-long Coaching Camp; 18 Players to Represent Sikkim in International Youth Cup
Sombaria, Jan 11:

The Proprietor of Lokendra Football Academy, Yangtang, under Geyzing–Bermiok Constituency, Shri Lokendra Gurung, briefed the media at Halka Ramailo following the successful conclusion of a month-long Football Coaching Camp organised at the Government Senior Secondary School Playground, Sombaria.

The coaching camp was conducted under the guidance of C-Licence holder coach Shri Michael Lepcha and witnessed enthusiastic participation from young footballers of the region.

Shri Gurung expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Daramdin Khel Kud Sangh (DKKS) and the Sports Department, Soreng District, for their cooperation and support in successfully organising the camp.

Meanwhile, President of Daramdin Khel Kud Sangh (DKKS), Shri Lakhang S***a, thanked Shri Lokendra Gurung for providing the young footballers with golden opportunities, stating that participation in the Under-15 International Youth Cup at Shillong would be a significant milestone in their sporting careers and a matter of pride for the region.

Shri Gurung informed that nine players were selected from the recently concluded coaching camp, while nine players from Lokendra Football Academy, Yangtey, will represent Sikkim under the banner of Lokendra Football Academy in the upcoming Under-15 International Youth Cup to be held at Shillong, Meghalaya.

The team will compete alongside several reputed international football academies under the able guidance of Coach Shri Michael Lepcha.
Shri Gurung also conveyed his sincere gratitude to the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Sikkim, Shri Prem Singh Tamang (Golay), for his continuous efforts towards the promotion of sports in the state and for personally encouraging him in the past.

He further extended thanks to the Hon’ble Speaker, SLA-cum-Area MLA of Daramdin Constituency, Shri M. N. Sherpa, for permitting the conduct of the coaching camp in the constituency and for extending support in every possible manner.
It was informed that a contingent of 18 players along with the coach and manager will depart for Shillong tomorrow. The prestigious Under-15 International Youth Cup will be held from January 12 to January 17, 2026, at Shillong, Meghalaya.

⚽ Winter Football Coaching Camp Concludes Successfully ❄️🏆

Daramdin Khel Kudh Sangh proudly marked the successful conclusion of the Winter Football Coaching Camp, conducted from 10th December 2025 to 7th January 2026 at the Govt. Senior Secondary School Sombaria Playground.

The camp was organized by the Sports & Youth Affairs Department, Government of Sikkim (Soreng District) in collaboration with Daramdin Khel Kudh Sangh, with the objective of promoting grassroots football and nurturing young talent.

The valedictory programme was graced by the presence of Deputy Director, Sports & Youth Affairs Department, Government of Sikkim, Ms. Mamita Gurung, President of Daramdin Khel Kudh Sangh, Shri Lakhang S***a, Joint Secretary of DKKS, Shri Prawash Shiwa, and District Coach, Sports & Youth Affairs Department, Shri Micheal Lepcha, who tirelessly worked for the development of the players and provided continuous guidance and motivation players at the camp.

The camp featured systematic training sessions focusing on fitness, skills, discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship. The dedication and enthusiasm shown by the participants made the programme highly successful.

Daramdin Khel Kudh Sangh extends sincere gratitude to the Sports & Youth Affairs Department, coaches, parents, and all stakeholders for their unwavering support. We remain committed to empowering youth and strengthening football at the grassroots level.
