NIT Silchar Karate Dojo Our mission is to help each student reach their highest personal potential; mentally and physically. It started with just 12 students.

Our dojo started in March,2009 under the able leadership of NIT Silchar alumni Eshan Das, respected faculty advisor, Dr. Ayon Bhattacharjee and our beloved coach, Sensei Ramesh Chhetri. But now its strength stands above 100 students. "Karate-do" stands for, “way of the empty hand”. Karate developed in the Ryukyu Islands in present day Okinawa, Japan from pre existing forms of indigenous martial ar

ts developed from Chinese knowledge and teaching in the early 14th century. However, Karate was only introduced into the Japanese mainland and the rest of the world in the 19th-20th century. Martial arts provide an unparalleled guidance to reach your goals, specifically in the areas of self-confidence, respect, discipline and self-defense. Our Sensei Ramesh Chhetri is a 4th dan Black Belt Under Karate Assotiation of India(KAI), 3rd dan Black Belt in Shorin Ryu karate and All India Karate Federation(AIKF). He is also trained under the art of Muay Thai and Kick-boxing. His students have performed in international,national and state level competitions and have achieved medals. He is currently the General Secretary of Cachar district Karate Association and joint secretary of United Karate Association of Assam(UKAA). NIT Silchar Karate Dojo is affiliated under Okinawan Gojuryu Karate-do India, Mumbai. Our Dojo follows a strict code of conduct to ensure the safety, progression, and enjoyment of all karatekas.

Our athletes showcased exceptional skill, discipline, and fighting spirit, bringing home multiple medals and making the dojo proud

Under the patriarch of the dojo family, whose orbs watched from behind thin rimmed glasses the snapping tournament banners under which the fighters faced their foe, the scoreboards flashed numbers that cumulated towards victory. Upon the Cachar tournament's conclusion, medals were swinging in the evening breeze, clinking softly together over the gi of our fighters.

NIT Silchar Karate Dojo proudly announces that at the 6th Cachar District Karate Championship, 18 players represented NIT Silchar with exceptional dedication and discipline. Out of these, 13 players secured merit positions. Their outstanding performance resulted in an impressive overall medal tally, and all players have been selected for the South Zonal Karate Championship.
