The Shivpuri Astro turf stadium is hosting a friendly 7 match series between the Bihar Girls Hockey Team and the Shivpuri Girls Hockey Team, bringing together young talent from two regions for a week of competitive sport and cultural exchange.

The series aims to give both squads valuable match experience on astroturf, strengthen grassroots women’s hockey, and build sporting ties between Bihar and Madhya Pradesh. Matches are being played under standard FIH rules.

Shivpuri team coach Mrs. Geeta Lakhera and Shailendra Bundela are undertaking the initiative to create more playing opportunities for girls outside of league fixtures and to encourage greater participation in hockey at the district and state level. Coaches from both sides arel also holding joint training sessions and knowledge-sharing workshops during the series.

“We’re excited to welcome the Bihar team to Shivpuri. Games like this give our players exposure and confidence, and it’s a chance to learn from each other on and off the field,” said Mr. Waqar Rohila,Secretary of the Shivpuri District Hockey Association while interacting with both the teams before match.

Congratulations to the newly elected President of International Olympic Committee Mrs Kirsty Coventry. The 41 year old Zimbabwean swimmer is a 7 times Olympic medalist who retired from active sports in 2016.
