FIELD HOCKEY TECHNICAL PASSING DRILL
(MIDFIELD OR DEFENSIVE OUT LETTING DRILL)
1. The Setup
The video uses icons to represent players on a hockey pitch:
D (Blue Circles) Represents Defenders or deep-lying players. There is one at the top and one at the bottom, likely representing a canter-back or sweeper.
HF (Blue Circles) These represent
* Half back or midfielders. They are positioned in the center of the Field.
* Yellow Cones : These mark a specific zone or "gate" in the midfield, indicating where the ball needs to be moved or where players should be positioned to receive it.
* Red Dot: This represents the hockey ball.
2. Tactical Movement
The Drill demonstrates a common "transfer" or "build-up" play:
* The play begins with the deep defender (bottom) in possession.
* The midfielders (HF) move dynamically within the cones to create passing lanes.
* The ball is passed between the deep defender and the midfielders to draw out opponents (which are invisible in this drill).
* The goal is to move the ball up the center toward the other defender or to a designated forward position.
3. Purpose of the Drill:-
* This specific visualization is likely intended to teach:
* Spacing: Ensuring the HF players aren't standing in the same line.
* Passing Channels: Using the "cones" to show how to receive the ball in a pocket of space.
* Rotation: You can see the HF icons shifting slightly, which represents "lead" runs to lose a marker.
