🥋 8th North East Pencak Silat Championship 2026: Sikkim Team Heads to Agartala 🥋
Majhitar, 8 September 2026: The Sikkim Pencak Silat Association organized a Best Wishes and Send-off Programme at Mining Ground, Majhitar, to extend encouragement and blessings to the Sikkim Pencak Silat team ahead of their participation in the 8th North East Pencak Silat Championship 2026, scheduled to be held in Agartala, Tripura, from 11 to 13 September 2026.
A total of 29 athletes will represent Sikkim at the championship. The team comprises 2 coaches, 1 manager, 2 referees/juries, and 1 state representative.
The coaching team includes Syed Ahmed (Male Coach) and Farati Rai (Female Coach), while Somnath Sharma will serve as the Team Manager.
The team will also be accompanied by Eloma S***a and Mukkum Hang Limboo as Referees/Juries. Bhim S***a, General Secretary of the Sikkim Pencak Silat Association, will represent the state as the State Representative.
During the programme, the athletes were blessed and extended best wishes by Mrs. Suruchi Silal, spouse of Shree Bebek Cintury , Shri Manoj Cintury, Teacher of Majhitar; Mrs. Rebekah Limboo; and Shri bhupen, Manager, GC Fuel.
It was highlighted that around 50 percent of the athletes will be participating in this championship for the first time. The Sikkim Pencak Silat Association expressed confidence and hope that the team will put up a strong performance and bring medals and laurels to the State of Sikkim.
The athletes were encouraged to compete with confidence, discipline, determination and true sporting spirit.
