The 8th edition of MJ's Trophy Every Sunday Rapid Chess Championship sponsored by Marathe Jewellers and organised by Sportfolio was won by Soham Datar. Soham was the defending champion and this time he made it even easier than last time. Soham scored 6.5 points out of 7 rounds and emerged as the clear winner. By virtue of these consecutive championships, Soham has taken the lead in the race for the "Best Performer" of all 52 Rapid Championships. He now has 19 points to his credit while Harsh*t Raja and Gaurav Konde follow him with 11 points.

2 woman players - Saloni Sapale and Snehal Mahajan won the 3rd and 5th prize and it was indeed an achievement - marking their presence in Open Category is remarkable.

New Day...New Champion! The beauty of 52 weeks on 64 squares!

The 4th edition of MJ's Trophy Every Sunday Rapid Chess Championship sponsored by Marathe Jewellers and organised by Sportfolio was won by Candidate Master Abhimanyu Puranik. Abhimanyu scored 7.5 points out of 8 games to emerge as clear winner. He led the very strong field of 64 players comprising 34 internationally rated players from the start and score 7 consecutive wins. He drew last round with Atul Dahale to claim the championship.

Aniruddha Deshpande, who recently got his maiden International Master norm at Chennai Grandmaster tournament was the top seed but a loss to Abhimanyu in the 5th round made him satisfy with 2nd position.

The tournament of DSO Zonal for Pune, ANagar and Solapur is postponed on 28th and 29th Sept, 2013. The DSO state will be at Thane from 1st Oct., 2013. Therefore, the tournaments are not overlapping.
