"If desk work leaves your neck and upper back feeling locked up, try this setup. Take a long yoga belt and cross it behind your upper back, looping it over both shoulders and down across the scapulae.
Hold the ends firmly near your waist. As you exhale, pull down into a smooth, rhythmic pump.
You'll feel your shoulder blades glide down, creating natural traction and space along your neck without pulling on the head. Perform 10 to 12 slow pumps, breathing deeply throughout!"
Safety & Form Reminders to Include:
Keep the head in neutral alignment—avoid thrusting the chin forward while pulling downward.
Keep the pumping action gradual; rhythmic 2-to-3 second pressure holds yield better muscle relaxation than quick yanks.
Avoid if there is active radicular pain (sharp, shooting numbness down the arm).
