SnS Soccer'17 WHO WE ARE? Madras School of Social Work is an institution working for more than five decades in the field of Social Work. WHAT WE DO?

The institution has been offering a Bachelors degree in Social Work (BSW) since 2005. A bunch of passionate students of II year BSW (Batch 2015-18) took an initiative to work with the street and slum communities in various places across north chennai in collaboration with Karunalaya, a Social Service Society. After observing and working with the communities for more than 10 consecutive thursdays t

he II Year students have decided to conduct street and slum soccer tournament (SnS Soccer’17) on 29th March 2017, Wednesday at SDAT foot ball ground to project the talents of the kids in the field of sports. The kids are yearning to exhibit their skills which lie unnoticed. Expected Outcome :

1. 130 boys & girls (10 teams) will be benefitted from this event. It will be life changing experience for the children.
2. The objective is to provide a platform to bring young talents into the lime light through this tournament.3. To show case the talents of the children in a larger scale in hope of imbibing them into main stream sporting society.
4. To channelize youthful energy in the right direction for preventing juvenile delinquency.

Soccer Star Sangeetha, writes 12th Standard Exam.

Sangeetha a homeless girl and a former child labourer went from Chennai Street to Scotland to play football at the Homeless World Cup in Glasgow 2016. Karunalaya rescued her as a child labourer in a steel factory and reenrolled her in formal school through the sports for development initiative. Later she was selected to play for Team India in Glasgow by Slum Soccer. She completes her higher secondary school this year. She is a promising soccer star and a model to other girls.
