60th National School Games commencing from Nov 21

Jammu, November 19, (Scoop News)- The 5-day 60th National School Games (NSG) in the
sports discipline of Badminton, Boys and Girls under 14 years is being organized by the
Department of Youth Services and Sports (YSS) under the aegis of School Games
Federation of India (SGFI) from 21 to 25 November, 2014, here.
This was informed by Director General, Youth Services and Sports (YSS),Navin Agarwal,
who is also Chairman of the organizing committee of 60thNational School Games, during a Press Conference here today.
He said as many as 60 teams 30 each for Boys and Girls from various States including
Union Territories comprising 145 players in boys section and 146 from girls section
from across the country are expected to take part in the competition.
He said teams from Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Vidya Bharathi, Assam, Andhra
Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Haryana, Gujrat, Manipur, Kerala, Jammu and Kashmir, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, JNVS, Telangana, Uttarakhand and West
Bengal will be participating in the event.
The Director General also said that the department of YSS has already constituted
different committees for smooth and successful conduct of the event.
The matches will be played at Indoor Complex, University of Jammu and Indoor Complex
District Police Lines Jammu. He said for convenience for incoming participants a control room has been established
at Deputy Directorate of Youth Services and Sports office complex Gandhi Nagar Jammu
with boarding& lodging facilities been made in Youth Hostel Nagrota.
He further said that fixtures in both boys and girls section shall be issued by Technical
Committee of School Games Federation of India.
Among others, Organizing Secretary 60th National School Games, Haji Mirza, Deputy Director YSS, (Member Organizing Committee), KanchanBala, Convener Finance Committee,
A. R. Shigan and other senior officers of YSS and SGFI were also present.

Shetty will be seen in action in the 39th Inter-
state, Inter-zonal and Junior National
Badminton championship beginning on
December 16 here. Talking to reporters, Chairman of Bihar
Badminton Association (BBA) and Vice-
President of the Badminton Association India
(BAI) Abdul Bari Siddique said about 550
shuttlers from 32 states and the Air India
team will participate in the nine-day championship. Siddiqui said matches for boys and girls will be played at two different venues -
Patliputra Sports Complex and the Secretariat Sports Complex. The qualifying matches would be held on December 16 and 17, while Inter-state and
Inter-zonal matches will be held on December 18 and 19. The finals will be on December
24. The boys' teams in the Inter-state and Inter-zonal Championship will be in contention for
Narang Cup, while the girls teams in these categories will fight for Shafi Qureshi Cup. A cash prize of Rs 5 lakh will be given to various winners, runners-up and other as per
BAI norms, said tournament Organising Secretary K N Jaiswal. The Bihar boys and girls team were also announced today. Shubham Singh, Amrish
Kumar, Subham and Nitesh Kumar are in the boys team, while Anshumita Srivastava,
Rishan Kumari, Priyansha Verma and Bibha Kumari are part of the girls squad.
