BCCI Introduces New Fitness Standards for Indian Cricketers
To strengthen player fitness, improve performance, and reduce injuries, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has introduced updated fitness assessment standards for all Indian players.
Key Fitness Assessments
1. Yo-Yo Test
* Evaluates aerobic endurance and recovery capacity.
* Players must achieve the prescribed benchmark score.
2. 2 km Run Test
* Measures speed, endurance, and overall cardiovascular fitness.
* The run must be completed within the required time standard.
3. Bronco Test
* Assesses speed, agility, endurance, and recovery.
* The test consists of repeated shuttle runs over 20m, 40m, and 60m, completed across multiple sets (total distance: 1,200 metres).

The updated fitness protocol aims to:
* Establish uniform fitness standards for all players.
* Reduce the risk of injuries.
* Enhance match fitness, endurance, and recovery.
* Improve overall athletic performance at the highest level.
