From Darkness to Light: A Meaningful Eye Donation Awareness Programme”
A deeply impactful Eye Donation Awareness Programme was conducted with great enthusiasm and social commitment at Jawahar Higher Secondary School (CBSE), Neyveli on 06.04.2026(Monday) on a meaningful evening. Approximately 80 teachers and staff pledged to donate their eyes. Around 200 staff members attended the function. The event was held at Minakshi Hall under the dynamic leadership of Principal Mrs. G. Joan Alaxious Maria and Vice Principal Mrs. V. Santhi. The event aimed at spreading awareness about the noble cause of eye donation and inspiring individuals to pledge their eyes to restore vision in others.
The programme commenced with a warm and informative welcome address by the Principal that set a thoughtful tone for the gathering, emphasizing compassion and the transformative power of the “Gift of Sight.” The presence of esteemed dignitaries added grace and significance to the occasion.
The Chief Guest, Shri. D.V.S.N. Murthy, ED / Legal /, CSR & GH, NLC India Ltd. & Secretary / JES in his address, highlighted the importance of social responsibility and encouraged everyone to contribute towards humanity through eye donation.
The Guest of Honour, Smt. S. Kalpanadevi extended support and appreciated the noble contribution by the staff members and for organizing such a meaningful initiative.
A key highlight of the programme was the insightful session by Dr. J. Pavithra, Cornea Fellow, from Aravind Eye Hospital, Thavalakuppam, Pondicherry, who provided valuable information about eye donation, clearing myths and emphasizing how one donor can bring light into two lives. Her speech created a strong emotional and intellectual impact on the audience.
Shri. A. Azhaguraj , Blood Bank, NLCIL also graced the occasion and expressed his support for the noble cause.
