Introducing Kickstart Her Future!

PSD is partnering with UNESCO, Sportz Village Foundation and Simply Sport Foundation on the Kickstart Her Future initiative to support safe and inclusive sport participation for adolescent girls aged 11-17 years across Delhi NCR.

Drawing on our expertise in coach education and adapting sport-for-development resources to the Indian context, PSD will contribute to resource development, pilot testing, training of master trainers, and cascade training to strengthen coaches’ capacity to create safer, more inclusive environments for girls in sport.

On 30th September, 2026, PSD participated in the first workshop at the UNESCO South Asia Regional Office. The sessions provided an opportunity to reflect on how research can be conducted responsibly, with participant safety, dignity, and wellbeing at its core.

How do young girls’ experiences and opportunities shape their participation, confidence, and future aspirations?

PSD, in partnership with PRIA and Mahila Jan Adhikar Samiti (MJAS), conducted fieldwork in Ajmer, Rajasthan, as part of an impact assessment of MJAS’s football interventions.

The study brought together 150 surveys with female football participants, 5 focus group discussions, and 15 key informant interviews with parents, coaches, program staff, and community stakeholders. The findings will help deepen our understanding of the program’s outcomes and the factors shaping girls’ experiences and opportunities.

On 16 September, PSD participated in Charcha 2026, co-hosted by Magic Bus, for a discussion on “Sport Beyond Sport: A Catalyst for Education, Skilling and Social Change.”

The sports and gender dialogue explored how sport can move beyond competition to support girls’ participation, confidence, leadership, life skills, and wider opportunities.

For 11th and 12th September 2026, 45 participants came together in Mumbai for the TAFISA Girls Positive & Safe Coaching Pathway Training.

Through interactive activities, discussions, and practical exercises, participants explored girl-centred coaching, body confidence, safeguarding, and menstrual health, focusing on creating safer and more supportive sporting spaces for girls.

For Sumiya, stepping onto the kabaddi field became the beginning of a journey beyond sport. Through the Udaan program, she found a safe and supportive space to participate, build confidence, and discover her potential.

Today, the confidence she developed through kabaddi extends beyond the field, into her classroom, her home, and her everyday life. From becoming more expressive and responsible to taking greater initiative, Sumiya’s journey shows how sport can create opportunities for young people to grow, lead, and believe in themselves.

🟣 Restarted on-ground delivery across PSD’s programs in Bhubaneswar after the summer break, with 367 sessions delivered and 72% average attendance, alongside positive observations around gender sensitivity, confidence, and leadership
