La Ultra

La Ultra World's cruelest race (111, 222, 333, 555 k), held in extreme Ladakh conditions since 2010 • ‘Moving Mountains Within’ chronicles edition-X (2019)

We were told in 2009 that this was an impossible, hence we did it, making Impossible yell I'm Possible. La Ultra is run in LaDakh, the high altitude desert in the Indian Himalayas. 3 high mountain passes fall on the route that are all in excess of 17,400 ft, leading to oxygen in the air, as less as 60% lesser than in the plains. Within a matter of 7-8 hrs, temperatures could vary from minus 12°C t

o 40°C. Over the years, the distance has increased from 222 k to 333 k and in 2019 there was also a 555 k category. We also reduced the distances from 222 k to 111 k and again in 2019 we had 55 k too. The basic learning has been that we just don't know what the human limits are, but to do justice to our limits, we need to lower the height of each step too. For that same reason we are now lowering the distances further by introducing 11, 22 and 33 k categories. In the April 2022 edition, during the acclimatisation period, we have created LaDakh Ultra Fest for you and your family to experience that it should be. You'll get to have a royal experience with the Namgyal Dynasty, visit the Stok Palace, be part of a Polo exhibition match and then try your hand at Archery. You'll also get literally walk down the memory lane as part of the heritage old Leh town walk. We'll together enjoy a picnic on Wari La, the most gorgeous mountain pass in Leh, which happens to be where the April edition of La Ultra will be run. Come join us, and discover the true you.

We live in the same house. Scroll on the same couch. Yet feel miles apart.

Bonding doesn’t happen by talking more. It happens by moving together.

When bodies move, hierarchies soften. Breath syncs. Silence becomes safe again.

Bonding Runs are guided movement journeys for partners, parents & children, siblings, friends.

No pace. No pressure. No performance.

This is not a race. It’s a pause.

Bonding. With those who matter.

“You really have created the world’s finest masterpiece of ultra-running.”

Those words came from Mark Steven Woolley. A PhD academic. A teacher of Physics and Theory of Knowledge. An adventurer. An ultra-runner.

Across five editions of La Ultra - The High, Mark covered 1,316 kilometres in the Indian Himalayas, including multiple returns to the 333 km. He knew endurance at its extremes.

But what stayed with him wasn’t distance. It was this realisation: running is never individual.

The runner only puts a pair of legs out there. Everything else is carried by people.

Layers of care. Quiet vigilance. Holding space when things unravel.

Since 2010, La Ultra has lived this philosophy. Care before performance. Presence before protocols.

Bonding Runs are not a departure from that truth. They are its distillation.

Bonding Runs begin here.

And if any part of this stayed with you, we’re always open to a conversation. DMs are open.
