Stimulate VISHUDDHI CHAKRA
Shell Mudra or Shankh Mudra is a hand
gesture that can be practiced as part of
pranayama or meditation practices. It can also be practiced in restorative or
therapeutic yoga sequences for throat-
related problems.
The hand gesture in the
final position resembles the shape of a
Shankh or Conch, hence the name Shankh
Mudra. The conch symbolizes
auspiciousness, so practicing this mudra
with OM chanting activates the
parasympathetic nervous system. It calms
the body and mind.
Using both hands in
this mudra keeps all the fingers active,
bringing a balance to all five elements.
The thumb represents the fire, and
covering it with the fingers helps calm that. Additionally, this
pose balances the throat chakra, hence
helping relieve throat-rel⁷ated problems
and vocal disorders. Hence a beautiful
practice for kids/teens with stammering
issues or singers.
Since this mudra helps bring clarity to
mind, it can also be practiced seated in
front of the desk at your workplace, office
school, etc. Include this gentle yoga, to
calm the nervous system and keep your Vishuddhi chakra active.
