He thought he lost.
Honestly, so did I.

One queen left. He sacrificed it. I took it.
And then the most painful thing in chess happened.

Stalemate.

He did not lose. I did not win. Nothing.
One piece. One trap. Entire game drawn.

And me? I was already celebrating in my head.

Chess will humble you every single time you stop paying attention.
The most dangerous moment in any game is when you think you have already won.

Because that is exactly when you stop seeing.

Everyone keeps saying hyperactive kids need to be fixed.

I disagree.

They do not need fixing. They need the right challenge.

A brain that cannot sit still is not a broken brain.

It is a fast brain. A curious brain. A brain that is simply not being stretched enough.

Chess does something no screen can do. It gives that restless energy a direction. A purpose. A reason to sit down and think for the next sixty minutes without even realising it.

No medication. No forcing. No screen bans.

Just a board. Thirty two pieces. And suddenly that “problem child” is the most focused person in the room.

If your kid cannot sit still do not stress. Just try chess once.
