Om Saidham Seva Mandal crowned Republic Day Cup Champions

Mumbai-January 26: In the Rustomjee-MDFA Republic Day Cup Finale, Om Saidham Seva Mandal outclass United Vill. W. A to clinch the title,played at St.Xaviers ground,Parel here on Sunday.

Both the teams, exhibited fabulous resilience to stretch the game to the penalties after an entertaining tie ended 1-1 in regulation time.

Om Saidham Seva Mandal had taken the lead through Shoaib in the 28th minute but United Vill W. A. clawed their way back into the encounter with a brilliant finish from Vatican in the 38th minute.

In an end-to-end encounter,Om Saidham Seva Mandal started out brightly with some swift passing and good movements on the ball with Striker Shoaib put Om Saidham Seva Mandal 1-0 ahead in the 28th minute.

Om Saidham Seva Mandal lacked consistency as they were made to pay ten minutes later,when Vatican fired in the equaliser in the 38th minute to bring the game back on level terms, extending the game into penalty shootout with both the teams locked 1-1 at the end of regulation time. Om Saidham Seva Mandal held their nerve and emerged victorious 3-1 on penalties to life the title.
