Meet the mighty Kumbha!

Kumbha is a large young Male tiger of Ranthambore National Park, currently ruling an area between the zones 6, 7 & 8.
Also known as T-34, he shares his territory with with a dominant female T-8, Ladli. He has probably fathered all three of her litters.

We had the pleasure to witness his highness, in the second safari of our tour at zone 6. After leaving at 5:30 in the morning, ours was the first jeep to enter this zone. We saw a few pugmarks just as we entered but they vanished into the dry river bed and so did our hopes.

Just as our excitement started to drop, we heard a loud Sambhar call and there he emerged out of the bushes.
We had the sighting of our lifes as he followed our Gypsy for around 10 minutes!

Elusive, unpredictable and exuding an air of raw power, seeing a leopard in the wild is a safari experience that will stay with you for life. Combining sheer magnificence with unrivalled strength, it’s hard not to feel inferior while watching these formidable predators.

Out on our first safari, we had booked one of the best zones in Ranthambore, zone number 3. We were unsuccessful in our attempts to track down the tiger for 2 hours even after hearing numerous alarm calls from Sambar and spotted deers. All the excitement seemed to be fading, but little did we know about the spectacle we were about to witness.

We decided to go back to the place where we had seen a few pugmarks at the start of our safari. Just as we moved our canter, we couldn't believe our luck as one of the participants spotted a leopard! Tucked down low, hidden in the grass, he was in full-blown stealth mode. Sitting on a rock adjacent to the road, he looked straight at us for a few seconds and then went deep into the woods.

Where the Tigers rule 🐯

As we recently completed our first trip to this Magical land, here are a few glimpses of the King's kingdom.

For us, making our participants understand the ecosystem and the need to conserve it, was more important than sighting the Royal Bengal Tiger. We were more than happy to see that everybody from the youngest to the oldest of our participants, understood the role Tigers play in conservation of these lands.

Wild Nomads - Treks and Trails presents you Bird Watching trip to Kumbhargaon Bird Sanctuary in Bhigwan.

Located in a small town near Pune, it is also called as the Bharatpur of Maharashtra. Along with flocks of hundreds of flamingos, many kinds of Storks, Ducks, Herons, Egrets, Raptors and Waders can be seen. The boat rides allow us to get close to these birds and give us an excellent opportunity to observe and photograph almost all these species.

Highlights of the the trip :

- Morning and evening boat rides.
- Informative sessions in between and during the boat rides.
- A night jungle trail to explore the nocturnal wildlife.
- Visit to a nearby grassland to observe and photograph Indian Gazelles and exotic grassland birds.
