♟️ Bihar Open FIDE Rating Chess Tournament.

🏆 Indrajeet Mahindrakar of Maharashtra Becomes Champion.

The Bihar Open FIDE Rating Chess Tournament, organized under the joint aegis of the Bihar State Sports Authority, Department of Sports (Government of Bihar), and the All Bihar Chess Association, concluded today at the 📍 Patliputra Sports Complex, Kankarbagh, Patna.

All three players finished with 8 points each, and based on tie-break scores:

🥇 Winner: Indrajeet Mahindrakar
🥈 Runner-up: GM Petr Kiriakov
🥉 Second Runner-up: Prithvi Sharma

The ceremony was graced by:

🏅 Ms. Shreyasi Singh, Sports Minister, Bihar

*Bihar Open FIDE Rating Chess Tournament.*

After the completion of Round 4 of the Bihar Open FIDE Rating Chess Tournament—organized jointly by the Bihar State Sports Authority, Department of Sports (Government of Bihar), and the All Bihar Chess Association—19 players are currently tied for the top position with 4 points each.

On the top board today, Grandmaster Peter Kiriakov (Russia) defeated Bihar’s junior champion Divyanshu Singh in 36 moves. Playing with the black pieces, Kiriakov responded to 1.e4 with the French Defense and skillfully utilized his bishops to win material, forcing Divyanshu to resign.

On Board 2, Bihar’s Reyan faced a tough challenge from Shivay Singh (Uttar Pradesh). Playing with white, Rayyan secured victory in a marathon 101-move game, eventually promoting a queen and outmaneuvering his opponent in the endgame.

On Board 3, the game between Sameer (Delhi) and Alekhya (West Bengal) ended in a draw.

On Board 4, Mahindrakar Indrajeet (Maharashtra) defeated Prem Kumar (Bihar) in 55 moves using the Pirc Defense, clinching the win by capturing a knight in the final phase.

On Board 5, Nepal’s champion FIDE Master Rupesh Jaiswal overcame Aishani Pathak (Uttar Pradesh) in 35 moves, successfully breaking through the Sicilian Defense.

🏆 National Amateur Chess Championship 2026
Over 1,000 Players Participate as Round 2 Concludes in Hosur.

The 13th edition of the National Amateur Chess Championship 2026 has drawn over 1,000 players from across India, marking one of the largest amateur chess gatherings in the country this year.

Hosted at Adhiyamaan College of Engineering, Hosur, the championship is being conducted from 25 February to 1 March 2026 under the aegis of the All India Chess Federation in association with the Tamil Nadu State Chess Association. The event is organized by Ananthi Chess Academy and Viyugam Chess Academy.

🎉 Inaugural Ceremony

The 13th edition of the National Amateur Chess Championship 2026 commenced with a formal inaugural ceremony at the prestigious Adhiyamaan College of Engineering in Hosur.

The ceremony featured:

Traditional lighting of the lamp
Welcome addresses from organizers and arbiters
Motivational remarks encouraging young players to pursue excellence
Emphasis on discipline, dress code compliance, and sporting ethics

FIDE Global Conference on Chess in Society and Education Opens in Bhubaneswar.
KIIT, Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India from January 14–16, 2026

The FIDE Global Conference on Chess in Society and Education was officially inaugurated in Bhubaneswar, marking a significant step in promoting chess beyond competitive play.

The conference is led by Arkady Dvorkovich, President of FIDE, along with Viswanathan Anand, FIDE Deputy President and five-time World Chess Champion. Their presence underlined FIDE’s strong commitment to promoting chess as a tool for intellectual and social growth.
