The School of Classical Ballet & Western Dance is India's longest running dance school and was founded in Mumbai, 1966. Classes are held under the direction of Khushcheher Dallas who is a registered and highly qualified teacher of the Royal Academy of Dance (London). The primary focus of the school is to train students in this art form through the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) & newly introduced to

the school - The Cecchetti Method. Other styles taught are Character & Free Movement, Modern, Jazz, Latin American, Contemporary, Lyrical, Pre Pointe, Stretch & Limber, Music Theatre with options of studying the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) London.

What an incredible, whirlwind three days at the first-ever Kolkata Ballet Festival! This beautiful event was the brainchild of the tireless Prasanna Prasanna Saikia brought to life alongside the amazing Nandita Nandita Mondal Adhiraj, Adhiraj Nag Ray and an unstoppable team.

Here is a quick glimpse into the weekend from our Director, Khooshoo Dallas, Khooshoo Dallas who had a wonderful experience at the festival:

Day 1: The Evaluation
We kicked things off at the Calcutta School of Music for the students' first-ever formal evaluation. The students' retention ability and sheer aptitude were deeply impressive, and seeing their hard work pay off was the perfect start.

Day 2: The Workshops
We ran a series of fulfilling workshops for all age groups, including an Adult Workshop and a dedicated Teacher Training session. These were hosted at Cocoon Studio, Studio Cocoon which provided a beautiful ambiance and serene energy. The room was bursting with curiosity, and the hours truly flew by.

Day 3: The Grand Finale
We started the morning spreading the joy of dance with the bright third-standard students at Modern High School for Girls.

Then came the moment we were all waiting for—'Spotlight' at Gyan Manch. Adjudicating 8Kolkata’s very first Ballet Festival was an absolute honour. Watching the dancers confidently take the stage, showcase their beautiful variations, and pour their hearts into every step was pure magic.

Thank you to everyone who danced, learned, and supported this milestone. Classical ballet in Kolkata has an incredibly bright future!

Celebrating today the birthday of Dame Margot Fonteyn, the (RAD) longest serving President.

She was appointed Prima Ballerina assoluta of the Sadler's Well Ballet Company by Queen Elizabeth ll.

Fonteyn created magic when she danced. Her dancing was distinguished by its perfect line and exquisite lyricism.

It was a honour for our Founder director, Tushna Dallas who had the rare opportunity to watch her dance with Rudolf Nureyev at a performance of Giselle. Also a privledge to have had the chance to have met her in person.
