End of the Season.
A year where none of us were really there.
Not on the pitch, but more importantly, not there off it.
No one prepares you for what everyone went through on Diogo & Andre’s passing. How can you? Right on this day a year ago, we were celebrating and having the best times of our life on Merseyside and across the oceans, but were jolted out of it by the news.
We were taunted by those who knew no better that we were ‘harping’ on it. Maybe they thought that it was banter albeit tasteless. But in reality, everyone of us was processing or trying to in a different way.
The team and those who were there with him all the way were of course the most affected besides their wonderful family of course.
Which led to so many difficult times, sometimes spilling on the pitch for the world to see.
To some legends, we eventually prepared to say good bye after 9 years of probably the best years of supporting the Reds in our lifetime.
This team calls out for that connection between the supporters and those who represent the very same support on the pitch, that is one thing which is non-negotiable.
We saw glimpses of it yesterday when Mo & Robbo went across speaking and thanking the supporters around Anfield and receiving thanks in return for their exemplary service towards this family.
After a wonderful final day of the season, where our participation in next year’s elite European competition was confirmed & our eyes which welled up across the globe watching some of ours play for us the very last time, its time to switch off for the summer.
Some of us might need it more than others.
Saying all that, we have to thank each and everyone of you who are a part of this football family.
You made Mumbai feel like a corner of Anfield like you always do and some of us proudly represented our little red corner of Mumbai in L4.
We are all privileged to have you.
Have a great summer & we’ll be back to do it all over again with everything that we have got.
- The entire Admin team of LFC Mumbai.
We shall leave you with a bit of something from Anfield yesterday.
You’ll Never Walk Alone.
