Downhill(DH) mountain bike racing is one of the most exciting and spectacular formats of cycling in the world and pushes rider skill and fitness to the very limits of what’s possible.
The Nagaland Downhill Championship was successfully conducted where 20 hardcore downhillers from the state with balls of steel competed for the coveted title - "The Fastest Naga DH Rider"
The event was solely organised to promote, motivate and reward riders from Nagaland.
Benny Metha, a 17-year old, representing Xtreme Tribal Brothers (XTB) racing team from Kohima and bagged the title of “Fastest Naga Downhill Mountain Biker”. Benny clocked 4 minutes 13:75 seconds to win the coveted title.
The second place was bagged by Tzudiyong Jamir representing THCC clocking 4 minutes 25:50 seconds while Kevilebo Zhotso from Xtreme Tribal Brothers came third after clocking 4 minutes 37:56 seconds. Petesedeyo from Eccentric Cycling Club Kohima came fourth (4 minutes 45:09 seconds) and Alemba Thonglui representing team Native Station, Kohima was fifth (4 minutes 45:56).
In junior category, Moanuksung, Purzulu and Kilangmoa from THCC came first, second and third respectively.
The most promising rider was also bagged by Benny Metha and the youngest rider award in the competition went to Odijung from THCC.
