The Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) has officially announced the launch of the inaugural franchise-based Sher-e-Punjab T20 League, scheduled to take place from August 30 at the Maharaja Yadavindra PCA International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh. The prestigious tournament will prominently feature top-tier Indian cricketers, including ODI and Test captain Shubman Gill, alongside other prominent stars like Arshdeep Singh, Abhishek Sharma, Gurnoor Brar, Prabhsimran Singh, and Ramandeep Singh. PCA President Amarjeet Singh Mehta and Secretary Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer formally unveiled the league's official logo in the presence of several national players, highlighting the tournament as a golden opportunity for budding local talent to share a dressing room with international superstars.
The exciting new T20 league will feature six newly formed franchises representing the districts of Amritsar, Fazilka, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Mohali, and Bathinda. Competing in a classic round-robin format, the teams will battle it out across a total of 27 matches, with two fixtures scheduled dailyโincluding one high-voltage game under floodlights. A highly anticipated player auction is set to be held in Chandigarh on August 9, where each of the six franchises will operate with a designated salary purse of Rs 45 lakh to build a 20-player squad. The six marquee Indian players are priced at a base of Rs 10 lakh each, while icon players will start at Rs 1.50 lakh, ensuring a dynamic and highly competitive mix of international, domestic, and grassroots cricketing talent.
