Thriller goes down to the final ball; Ireland scripts history, India left heartbroken

India suffered a one-run defeat against Ireland in the second T20I. Chasing a target of 155, India endured a disastrous start, eventually losing the match by the narrowest of margins. With the defeat, India also lost the two-match series 0-2.

India’s chase got off to the worst possible start as both openers, Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma, were dismissed in the very first over.

Ireland pacer Jay Moundra trapped Sanju Samson LBW for a duck, and Abhishek Sharma was dismissed off the very next ball he faced, giving Moundra his second wicket of the over.

Amid the early collapse, Tilak Varma fought back with a brilliant 55 runs to keep India’s hopes alive. Shivam Dube (20), Harsh*t Rana (21), and Axar Patel (14) also contributed, but India fell agonizingly short, finishing on 153/9 in 20 overs.

Jay Moundra shines with the ball

Jay Moundra was the standout performer for Ireland, claiming 3 wickets for 32 runs in his four overs and breaking the backbone of India’s batting lineup. Matthew Hollard provided excellent support with three wickets of his own.

Earlier, Ireland posted 154 runs, thanks largely to a composed 53 from Harry Tector, which proved to be the match-winning contribution.
