The **International Silambam Committee (ISC)** successfully hosted the **5th International Silambam Championship** on **May 25, 2025**, at **SNS Academy, Coimbatore, India**. Organized under the esteemed **International Non-Olympic Committee (INOC)** and recognized by the **United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC)**, the event showcased **over 1,000 participants** from **Malaysia, Thailand, Sri Lanka, India, UAE, and other regions**.
Competitions were held in various **Silambam disciplines**, including:
✅ **Long Pole Throw**
✅ **Mid Pole Throw**
✅ **Deer Antler Combat**
✅ **Vel Stick Techniques**
✅ **Double Stick Combat**
✅ **Curling Sword**
✅ **Touch Stick Fighting**
Participants ranged from **sub-junior (ages 7-13), cadet (14-15), junior (16-17), and senior (18+ categories)**, ensuring a **broad representation of global Silambam talent**. The championship aimed at **promoting Silambam as a structured martial art** and enhancing its recognition worldwide.
The prestigious event was **inaugurated by Chief Guest ISC Global President Dr. Mohammad Seraj Ansari**, alongside **Secretary General Dr. Thyagu Nagaraj**, who praised the athletes' dedication and skill.
