Every year at Chilly-O, we recognise one or two children from our programmes who, in their own quiet ways, embody the spirit of our dear Arun.
The awards are meant to celebrate something we value deeply — not just talent or performance, but a spirit of showing up for others, taking responsibility, and giving back. The award may take the form of an academic scholarship or help with something the child needs.
This year, we had two very special awardees. ❤️
Ansh has always shown his commitment to his team through service. We’ve often seen him fetching water for his teammates, cheering from the sidelines, and happily doing whatever is needed — without worrying about how many points he got to play.
A while ago, his cycle broke, but his family couldn’t afford to get it repaired. So, to make it to practice on time, Ansh would sometimes borrows his father’s cycle in exchange for finishing his schoolwork or helping with things at home.
This year, Ansh received a new cycle — something that will make it a little easier for him to keep showing up for his team. A big thank you to Mr. Rubal Sharma for sponsoring the cycle gifted to Ansh and helping us make this award possible. ❤️
Aarti was among the first children to join her centre. She found a real sense of belonging in the programme and soon began taking on responsibility for bringing more children from her community into it. Even today, she makes sure that more children — especially girls — are able to show up for our coaching sessions.
Aarti received a year-long academic scholarship, recognising not just her participation, but her beautiful instinct to give back and make sure others have the same opportunities she did.
These two remind us that the spirit of a team is often found in the little things — showing up, looking out for others, and making space for someone else to be part of the game.
