Football Tournament organised by Kulgam Police Concludes Successfully in Kulgam

Kulgam Police successfully concluded an exhilarating football tournament organized under the aegis of Civic Action Programme (CAP) 2024-25, aimed at fostering sportsmanship, unity, and community engagement.

The grand finale, held at the Mini Stadium Kulgam, featured an exciting clash between FC Kulgam and Real Wanpora FC, in which Real Wanpora FC emerged victorious with a convincing 3-0 win. The event drew a massive turnout of enthusiastic spectators, who passionately cheered for their teams, creating an electrifying atmosphere.

The closing ceremony was graced by SSP Kulgam Shri Sahil Sarangal-IPS, along with other senior officers including DySP DAR Kulgam Shri Muhammad Ayub Rather and SHO Police Station Kulgam. The dignitaries felicitated the winning and runner-up teams with trophies and medals, appreciating their outstanding performances. All participating teams were also commended for their dedication, discipline, and exemplary sportsmanship displayed throughout the tournament.

Addressing the gathering, SSP Kulgam highlighted the significance of such events in strengthening police-public relations and promoting peace, harmony, and youth empowerment in the region. He reaffirmed J&K Police’s commitment to organizing more community-oriented programs that encourage constructive engagement and healthy recreation for young people.

The tournament concluded on a high note, spreading a message of unity, cooperation, and collective responsibility towards building a peaceful and progressive society. Kulgam Police extended heartfelt gratitude to all participants, supporters, and stakeholders whose contributions made the event a resounding success.

Sopore, July 27: The football-crazy town of Sopore witnessed an electrifying start to the 3rd Khalid Memorial Invitation Cup with an exhibition clash between FC Moosa Blues and FC Wanpora Kulgam on Sunday.

The match began with high intensity as Moosa Blues drew first blood in the opening half, seizing an early lead and delighting the home crowd. However, FC Wanpora Kulgam showed resilience, clawing their way back into the game with an equaliser that kept the contest alive and thrilling till the final whistle.

With the scores locked at 1-1, the fate of the match was decided in a nerve-wracking penalty shootout. Both teams matched each other kick for kick, but Moosa Blues ultimately held their nerve to clinch the shootout 9-8, emerging victorious in the curtain-raiser of the prestigious tournament.
