The final of Kozhikode Football League lived up to the expectations as it turned out to be the most dramatic match of KFL (2013-14). The match involved top ranked “Spartans” taking on the yellow fever team “Zamorins”. On one side Spartans was under the captaincy of superb player “Ngaonii” whereas Zamorins entered the game under the leadership of swift and skilful “Febin”. The referee for the match was very talented “Ram” with “Anuj” and “Anirudh” supporting him on the side lines.
The match started with great pace with both team showing great attacking instinct. Zamorins break the deadlock by a superb finish by “Febin” in the lower-right corner of the goal which left Spartans’ goalkeeper stunned. Spartans didn’t take much time to equalise as “Ngaonii” hit the ball directly into the goal just moments after the game resumed. Both teams kept trying and there were couple of superb saves made by both the goalkeepers. First half ended with the score of 1-1.
Second half started with the same intensity. Spectators were awestruck when “Febin” hit a blinder which hit the goal post. Spartans also attacked with a superb shot by “Sathya” but “Arka” prevented the ball from entering the goal. The fiercely competitive second half ended without a goal.
The equal score after second half lead to match entering into the two extra-halves of 5 minutes each. Both team tried to build up good attacking moves but the committed efforts of defender stopped them. The extra time also ended without a goal leading to penalty shootout.
Penalty shootout turned out to be the most dramatic one which can outshine even the Champions League 2013 final. It was started by the free kick expert “Ngaonii” but his shot was stopped by Zamorins goalie “Rejin” who replaced “Vinay”. “Nikhil Sasi” scored for Zamorins giving them lead over their competitors. Spartans missed their second shot when “Sathya” hit the ball wide off the goal. Spartans took a moment of relief when “Febin” also missed leading to score of 1-0 after two shots in favour of Zamorins. The sequence of misses and goal continued with both teams scoring 2 out of their first 5 shots leading to sudden death.
The sudden death witnessed even more drama when both team continued their collaboration of missing and scoring. Spectators were shocked when the Captains of both teams missed their second shot. The moment of glory came on the 12th shot. “Pravin” scored the goal for Spartans leading to added pressure on the PGP-17er “Surya”. “Surya” hit the ball away from the right post and Spartans rose up in ecstasy. The loud shouting and cheering all around of “Spartans” denoted that they have won something really big.
“Febin Koyan” was awarded as the “Best Player of the Tournament”. Spartans were graced with a glittering KFL trophy after the match.
Kozhikode Football League turned out to be great show with lots of new talent coming up and proving their mettle. Hoping to reach more heights in the next season i.e. KFL (2014-15).

Spartans 3 - 0 Zamorins
The final and crucial league match of KFL ended with a win for Spartans. Spartans needed a win to secure a position in finals and to prevent krusaders from reaching the finals. The high stakes game started with Spartans dominating the match from the start. Ngaonii opened the scoring with a superb free kick. He added two more goals with superb passing and skills. The match ended 3-0 in favour of Spartans who will now face Zamorins in finals.
Final will be most played on 5th March (tentative).

Krusaders 3 - 2 Zamroins
Krusaders clinched the much needed victory to remain in contention for the finals. Krusaders needed a win from the match to equal points with spartans and reach second place. They played really superb football and scored 3 valuable goals. Zamorins retaliated well with 2 goals but unable to score the third one. Zamorins finally lost the match with narrowest of the margin.
Now Krusaders hope to reach finals depends on Zamorins vs Spartans match. Spartans have to either win or play a draw against Zamorins to reach the finals.
