The h2e Power Systems Maharashtra State Selection U09 (Open & Girls) Chess Championship wrapped up after two action-packed days of elite competition (p. 1)! Hosted by the Amrish Chess Academy at Tiwari Mangal Karyalay, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, this marquee event brought together the finest under-9 chess talents from all corners of Maharashtra (p. 1).
Across 8 grueling rounds of Classical Swiss League action, these brilliant kids showed incredible focus, tactical depth, and unmatched fair play (pp. 1, 6).

Day 2 of the FIDE Arbiter Seminar in Pune was truly inspiring and enriching โ™Ÿ๏ธโœจ

We were honoured by the presence of Abhijit Kunte โ€“ Grandmaster, Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Awardee ๐Ÿ†, Captain of the Gold Medal winning Indian Womenโ€™s Team at the Chess Olympiad 2024, and Executive Committee Member, MCA.

GM Abhijit Kunte shared his valuable insights on the seminar, highlighting the crucial role arbiters play in maintaining fairness, discipline, and the true spirit of the game โ™Ÿ๏ธ๐Ÿ“–

His words reinforced the importance of strong officiating in shaping champions and elevating Indian chess to greater heights ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Pune hosts the prestigious FIDE Arbiter Seminar from 28th February to 2nd March 2026 at Royal Connaught Boat Club โ™Ÿ๏ธ๐Ÿ“š

With 21 participants from across India, the seminar aims to strengthen the standards of chess officiating in the country.

The sessions are led by Chief Lecturer Gopakumar M S (IA) and Assistant Lecturer Srivatsan R (IA).

Organised by A.S. Enterprises for Maharashtra Chess Association under the aegis of the All India Chess Federation, the seminar is coordinated by IA Atharva Godbole.
