Kalaripayat is all about muscle loosening and flexibility, speed, power, accuracy, calmness of mind, facing dangerous situations calmly. A kalari artist is humble n respects elders as in kalari students touch the gurus feet. They are well disciplined.
But gym workout is all about muscle tightening and stiffness, something like a rhino, unable to turn quickly or pit soap on ones nack while bathing. Just show off to attract girls. Most of tjem with inflated ego, annoying character, no humbleness. Many people are well shaped above hips, but no workout for legs. One Mr. Kollam i know had sever back pain and was bedridden for years. Due to uneven workout imbalanced muscles apper. One chest muscle is big and other is small. One of my friend suggested, if u don't contantly workout, the muscle goes away. He said he lost 5 years and regreted it. Now a days the girls are also gravitated to gym workout. You know recently a lady died due to excess weight taken during a dead lift and she died by weight falling on her scruff of neck. Muscles in women looks very ugly. Ladies don't understand that. Some may criticize. No problem. The wise understands. 👍

Why new gens are not turning to martial arts or yoga gurus? Isbit because they think they can learn every thing from net? You cannot interact with online videos. Only a Guru can explain anything in detail. Think about it😄

Never judge a guru by the clothes he wear, or by his physique, or by his walk, or by the interior or exterior design of kalari or school, which may not be present. A disciple can know him only by following him like a shadow, helping him in all ways, pleasing him by all means...and unknowingly the knowledge or wisdom flows to him or her like the shutter of Dam is opened in the appropriate level which one can digest. The Guru may walk stooping, in humbleness, as he has seen the vast ocean of wisdom which is yet to be learned. No a days, people visit a showroom to purchase only if the interior and exterior looks good....There is an old saying in malayalam....even though the temple is small, the idol is big(Ambalam cheruthanengilum....prathishta valuthanu). But many disciples are unable to see the hugeness of the idol which is masters ability...but they are in search of the external grandness of the temple or kalari. Here is where they make the mistake of judgement.....Kollam Mathews Gurukkal.
