PERFECTLY IMPERFECT BIOMECHANICS ๐ช๐จ๐
In my opinion, there is WAY TOO MUCH attention and focus on so called "Perfect or Correct" form during exercising in Rehab and Training!
๐บThe claim is that -
Only certain postures, positions & movements are "Perfect or Correct" and other postures, positions or movements which don't look like the so-called perfect postures, are "Bad, Wrong, Harmful or Dangerous".
โ ๏ธ
๐There is nothing more off-putting or annoying than having to CONSTANTLY nitpick & pay attention to every little microscopic detail and part of your body during an exercise, in order to achieve that "Perfect, Correct, Good" Posture.
๐Simply put, both Pain and Injury may occur due to multiple factors working in combination and sometimes they may not even occur together, and yes of course Biomechanics is a part of this, but often, it may only be a small part.
โBut this is NOT to say that form and technique are NEVER important.
๐If a movement is uncomfortable or feels awkward to some individuals, then some attention on technique may help! Maybe modifying the movement may help too. BUT this doesnโt mean the old posture or position was โBADโ and the new non painful one is โGOODโ or โIDEALโ in general. Often its not the Posture, position or movement that's the cause of Pain or Injury, but rather the ๐บLack of Tolerance๐บ to them!
โจAll human movement is gloriously variable and remarkably unique! โจ
โ ๏ธHence, to assume that some movements are "Perfect, good, correct" and others are "Wrong, bad", and to try to limit and constrain the so-called "bad" movements, goes against the very fundamental uniqueness of being an individual human being!
๐So whenever I see images like these (given below) with a tick โ
or cross โ next to exercises, I question why? Why are any of these examples with ticks better than the other with the cross?
๐กThere are very few dangerous exercises.
All Exercise is Good and Safe if the Load Management & Tissue Tolerance is taken care of. ๐ฅ๐ช
