For me, it’s pretty obvious: they don’t have a natural defensive CDM. 🥲

The midfield lacks that proper defensive shield in front of the back four, and when opponents hit them with quick, high-intensity counters, huge spaces can open up right in front of the defense.

With so much attacking quality, Madrid can look terrifying going forward… but that midfield protection could become a serious problem. 😬
