This is a team of JU students who design and build race cars to participate in national level Formula Student events. We have come a long way since the idea of having a Formula Student Team in JU first came up. The story starts in July of 2016, when a bunch of students from the Mechanical Engineering department came up with ideas of having a motorsport team. The idea behind this was, "So many col
leges in the country has a formula student team, and are reaping the benefits of having one, so why should JU being a pioneer engineering institute not have it's own motorsport team?"
So the road to establishing a Formula Student club began. Discussions went on among the students, with professors of the Mechanical Engineering department, and even with administrative personnel of JU. Orientation meetings, technical meetings, faculty meetings etc. Meetings were organized by the students to spread the awareness within the campus itself. Supports poured in from the faculty of Mechanical Engineering department (yes, we got this blessing) regarding ideas on how to materialize our initiative. Slowly and Steadily the momentum built up, students registered themselves, a collegiate club opened under the SAE India banner. So, here we are now, currently functioning as a club under the supervision of the Mechanical Engineering department of JU, but, make no mistake, it is open to students from all the other departments of JU as well. We intend to participate in National and International formula student events and learn and grow as engineers while also growing as a formula student entity in India and abroad.
