the day to be remembered by every Indians death anniversary of Sri Subedhar Guddemane Appaiah Gowda , a freedom fighter who fought against British rule for imposing high tax in the form of money to all farmers of kodagu during his time sulliya and puttur was under kodagu prominence , later by few treators who joined hands with british and made Appaiah Gowda captured by british troops and was hanged on 31 0ctober 1837 in Madikeri fort in front of all residents of kodagu
