19-year-old Rafael Jodar won his second consecutive five-sets match at ROLAND-GARROS in Paris defeating the veteran in the game Pablo Carreno-Busta for a place in the quarterfinals of a Grand Slam tournament for the first time in his career on his debut.

Even the “Old Rafa”, and the “King of Clay”, Rafa Nadal must be very proud of the victory of the “New Rafa” coming from his Country of Spain, after being two-sets-to-love down and conceding only five games after that.!

What a MAGNIFICENT performance that was from the teenager. HUGE, HUGE Congratulations to Jodar👏👏

23-year-old Marta Kostyuk, current No.15 in WTA Ranking, thrashed the hopes of the former World No.1 and the No.3 seed Iga Świątek on Court Philippe Chatrier at ROLAND-GARROS in her bid to win the French Open title for the fifth time in her career.

It was OUTSTANDING tennis played by the Ukrainian lady to win her Round 16 match in two sets losing only six games against Iga, considered to be the “Queen of Clay” in Women’s tennis, like the “King of Clay” Rafa Nadal in Men’s tennis.

HUGE Congratulations and Good Luck to Marta👏👏

When the current World No.1 and No.2 Jannik Sinner & Carlos Alcaraz shared the four Slam titles in the year 2024, everyone - including some well-known tennis commentators and past Slam Champions - started saying that a new SINCARAZ rivalry has started reminiscent of the FEDAL rivalry during 2004-2008, and that they will win most of the Majors for the next five to ten years.!

True, they won the last nine Majors since then. That was mainly due to the fact that there wasn’t any player competitive enough to challenge them other than a 37 to-39 years-old Novak Djokovic. He was the only one in the current Men’s tennis circuit to defeat each of them at Slam events when they won those Slam titles.

Those who are elder to them like Alexander Zverev, Daniil Medvedev, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Andrey Rublev, Taylor Fritz were expected to stop them on their way. Zverev to an extent fought with them better than others though. The rest named were not playing tennis at the level they were playing in their earlier years.

Players who were in the age bracket of Sinner and Alcaraz too didn’t do well for various reasons. Holger Rune and Jack Draper were absent most of the time to play in BIG tournaments due to injuries in this period. Ben Shelton was just not good enough to stop them.

In the meantime, quite a few players even younger to the youngest No.1 in history Alcaraz was slowly making their mark in the background silently. Jakub Mensik, Learner Tien, Arthur Fils, Joao Fonseca are classic examples to do that.

With the absence of Alcaraz due to wrist injury and Sinner exiting in the second-round, fans in general said tennis will be very boring to watch at this year’s French Open. What turned out was exactly the opposite. French Open was never so exciting and interesting in recent memory with 27 matches going to five-sets before it entered second week👏👏

Suddenly, a crop of some other younger players like Rafael Jodar and Martin Landaluce had come up in ATP Rankings very quickly in the last six months shocking everybody following this sport. Latest “little” star to shine in early rounds at FO is the 17-yer-old Moise Kouame. He is 6 years younger to Carlos.!

The “Castle in the Air” built by the SINCARAZ fans, expecting each of them to win more than 24 Majors that the legendary Serbian had won, may remain in their dreams only. Their riavlary may not last long as FEDAL rivalry did. Whatever that be, the future of Men’s tennis is looking so very bright❤️💪

Wishing Good Luck to ALL the players among the last 16 trying to win the first ever Slam title of their career on the warm and charming red-clay surface at ROLAND-GARROS in Paris this time🌹👍🌹

ROLAND-GARROSs in Paris last evening witnessed two of the longest 5-sets matches in Round 32 of the 2026 French Open.

The clash between the 20-year-old Spanish tennis player and World No.69 Martin Landaluce and the 24-year-old Juan Manuel Cerundolo who upset the current World No.1 Jannik Sinner in previous round went for as long as 6 Hours and 03 minutes.

The last of the four sets went into tie-breakers before the younger brother of Francisco Cernudolo came out victorious in the end. This match was longer than the one played between Carlos Alcaraz and Sinner in the finals of the French Open last year.

The other match between World No.105 Matteo Berrerttini and the 25-year-old Argentine Francisco Comesana, No.102 in PIF ATP Rankings, lasted for 5 Hours and 16 minutes before Matteo walked up to the net to shake hand with Comesana after winning the final set, with tie-break points reading 15-13.!

The old warhorse and the “Italian Hammer” Matteo had to really work hard for his win. He had to save two match-points and converted his own fifth match-point in the breaker at 14-13 to move into play in the fourth-round of this year’s French Open. His best performance earlier at RG was in the quarterfinals, where he lost to Novak Djokovic after he got a Walk-Over from Roger Federer in the Round of 16.

Two extra-ordinary matches. It is sad that one player has to lose in tennis matches. But here, the defeated Landaluce and Comesana too played unbelievable game and they can hold their heads high even after losing the matches👍👍

BIG Congratulations to Juan and Matteo for their MAGNIFICENT wins👏👏

What a HISTORIC third-round match win that was for the 19-year-old Joao Fonseca on the red-clay at ROLAND-GARROS in Paris against the former No.1 player in the World and the 24-time Slam winner Novak Djokovic. Moments of glory for him👌

The tennis lessons that the teenager learned by playing with the experienced Djokovic by running toe-to-toe for five hours, and fighting to win till the last point of a Grand Slam five-sets match should be PRECIOUS.!

In the post-match conferences, both players had only good things to talk about each other. The high level of mutual respect was evident in the words spoken by them.

Djokovic congratulated the young Brazilian, and showered very high praises on him saying Joao could be the next great thing in tennis and he wished to see him winning Slams.

Th heart-warming great respect expressed by the youngster towards the Champion of All Champions in tennis was all the more praiseworthy. He described Novak not only as his “idol”, but even considered him as the “GOD” of this sport.👏👏So TRUE it is❤️💪

No player from the Gen Z had spoken so highly of GOAT Djokovic till this date. One wonders, what do “Novak Haters” have to say about that.?!?

They couldn’t have spoken anything better about the other in the context. Thank you Novak and Joao🙏👍🙏

Post his previous 5-sets match win, the Brazilian teenage sensation Joao Fonseca pulled off another victory on ROLAND-GARROS Clay by coming back from two-sets-to-love down against the former No.1 player and the 24-time Slam winner Novak Djokovic.

Djokovic started really well in his third-round match of the 2026 French Open by breaking the very first service game of the young Brazilian to take a 1-0 lead in the first-set. After leading 5-2 and failing to serve the first set at 5-2, serving for it at 5-4 for the second time, the Champion gave no chance to the youngster by giving him a love game to take it 6-4.

Djokovic broke the serve of Fonseca in the fifth game of the second-set to go ahead 3-2. He had to save a break-point in the eighth game to extend the lead to 5-3, and had no issues in serving that set out conceding only one point to pocket it at 6-4 again.

However, Novak couldn’t keep the momentum he had in the first two sets and was down 0-1, losing his serve which saw the first double fault of the match coming from him. Though Fonseca had to save two break-points in the third game he managed to take a 3-0 lead and went on to win it 6-3, saving again two more break points in the last game there.

They traded break of serves early in the fourth-set. Serving at 3-4, Fonseca saved two break-points. He had nothing to lose, and rightly went extra-aggressive on his powerful forehand to save those. That was a BRAVE approach and the sign of a future Slam Champion who is not into his twenties even. The Brazilian went on to win that set 7-5.

They traded an early break of serve each in the fifth and final set too. But Fonseca held firm to take it at 7-5 again to register the biggest win of his career so far. What an experience this match must have been for the young man.! HUGE Congratulations to him👏👏

We thus have a New French Open Champion this year. All the more pleasing😍👍

All said and done, it was a ROLLER-COASTER & SCINTILLATING match in all aspects of the game. Hats-Off to Djokovic for playing this kind of tennis. It is NOT a joke going toe-toe against one of the most promising young prospects in the sport, who is half his age, for nearly five hours. To be exact, for 4 Hours and 57 minutes.!

Novak though can be very proud of his performance. He fought till the very last point of the match, even earning a break-point in the very last game while trying to level it 6-6 and thus to to take it into a tie-breaker. Djokovic hit 70 winners to Fonseca's 68, and made less unforced errors of 39 to 47 from the Brazilian. What more, he won three more total points in the entire match than Fonseca (167 to 164).! GREAT effort indeed👌 Still, in the end, a victory was just not meant to be for Novak in Paris this evening🙏

Who said Djokovic cannot win a five-set Grand Slam match anymore.? He nearly pulled it off again after he did it against the World No.1 Jannik Sinner in the Semifinals of the Australian Open four months back.! BRAVO Nole❤️💪

The IMPOSSIBLE had happened at ROLAND-GARROS in Paris after the semifinal match loss of Jannik Sinner to Novak Djokovic at the Australian Open earlier this year in Melbourne, Mr. Mats Wilander.!

Forget about Sinner winning 14 Slam titles that Rafa Nadal did on clay at RG.! Can the Italian win three French Open titles in his career that Djokovic has achieved so far, Mr. Patrick Mouratoglou .?

Many other tennis “experts” like Mats & Patrick, and millions of FEDLACRASINNER fans must be eating their words now🥲 As it had become a habit, it shouldn’t matter to them to anymore though😂😂😂

The first two rounds of the 2026 French Open is completed. Four of the Top 8 seeds drawn to reach the quarterfinal stages are already out of the second Slam event of this year – Jannik Sinner (1), Ben Shelton (5), Medvedev (6) and Taylor Fritz (7).

As a fan of the 24-time Major Champion Novak Djokovic, though JustTennis would like him to go still deeper in this tournament, it wouldn’t be surprised if any four of the six players, aged 20 or under and ranked outside the Top 10 in the current ATP Rankings given in the graphics here, make it to play in the semifinals at ROLAND-GARROS, Paris this year.

They could be four from Moise Kouame ( #318), Rafael Jodar ( #29), Joao Fonseca ( #30), Martin Landaluce ( #69), Learner Tien (18) and Jakub Mensik ( #27)👍

Even if two of the six players mentioned above reach the last four (a real possibility now) of the 2026 French Open, it will be Toooooo Gooooood for Men’s tennis and a BIG BLOW for all those tennis fans and the so-called “experts” who has been predicting for more than a year that Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner WILL win all the Slam tournaments and share the Major titles for many years to come😂😂

Go Guys💪 Good Luck to you ALL.👏👏

“Anyone can win against anyone, and anyone can lose against anyone”. What a PROPHECY that was coming from the former World No.1 and the 2021 US Open Champion Daniil Medvedev in October last year during 2025 Shanghai Masters.!

And, who would have thought then or now after seven months, that ‘ANYONE’ could be the current World No.56 and the 24-year-old Argentine Juan Manuel Cerundolo, and that ’ANYONE/ANYBODY’ could be the current World No.1 and the four-time Slam winner Jannik Sinner.?!?

It doesn’t matter whether the Italian suffered cramps or was not feeling well from the moments he was serving for the match, while leading 5-2 in the third set against the younger brother of Francisco Cernundolo ranked No.26 in the World. Sinner lost it in the end, and that's what it's.!

Buth then, that is the state of Men’s tennis after the BIG 3 era. Tennis fans should accept this fact and learn to live with it🙏

BIG, BIG Congratulations to Juan Manuel Cerundolo👏👏

With his win in the Round of 64 against Valentin Royer at 2026 French Open, Novak Djokovic has now played more Slam matches at a Single Grand Slam than any other player in Men’s tennis.!

Novak’s 120 matches at ROLAND-GARROS - on a surface that is least successful for him - are four more than (116) that of Rafa, "The King of Clay" there, and one more than (119) the “King of Grass” Roger Federer played at the All England Lawn Tennis Club in Wimbledon.!!

Novak has also played a combined total of 225 matches on Hard Courts at the Australian Open in Melbourne and the US Open Tennis Championships in Flushing Meadows, New York to 220 matches played by Roger and 172 played by Rafa.!!!

Unmatched longevity for a TRUE All-Surface player. What a tennis LEGEND Novak, the “Golden” GOAT is👏👏

BRAVO Nole❤️💪
