It is an immense pleasure and delight to announce that Prof. Venkappayya R. Desai, Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, IIT Kharagpur has been appointed the Director of IIT Dharwad. A Professor of Civil Engineering, Prof. Desai has been with IIT Kharagpur for more than 25 years, since 1994.
Prof. Desai was the Principal Investigator for the study of water supply distribution, storage and source availability of Darjeeling Municipality for the Office of the District Magistrate and storm water outflow drainage plan and sub-surface drainage plan for Keventer Projects Ltd. He was the Co-Principal Investigator of Future Cities for the Ministry of Education. His research areas focus on Integrated Water Resource Management, Hydrologic and Hydraulic Engineering, Flood and Drought Management, Water Harvesting, Sustainable Facilities in Water and Energy Traditional Best Management Practices. He has served as the Executive Committee (EC) Member for All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi and as a Member in Board of Governors (BoG) of IIT Kharagpur and Academic Advisory Committee of Military College of Electronics & Mechanical Engineering, Secunderabad.
