43nd IndianOil Servo Surjit Hockey Tournament-2026 . Surjit Hockey Society (Regd.) Sardar Surjit Singh Randhawa was a member of World XI, Asia Stars XI and he participated in number of International events i.e.

came into existence in 1984 with a pledge to keep the name of Sardar Surjit Singh Randhawa, Olympian alive, who lost his life in a fatal car accident near Jalandhar on Jan 7th, 1984, while fighting hard for up liftmen of the game of Hockey in our Country. Olympics, World Cup, Champions Trophy, Asian Games, besides many other International Tournaments. Born on October 10, 1951, Surjit Singh played

for State College of Sports, Jalandhar under Guru Nanak Dev University and later for Combined Universities team as deep defender. Surjit Singh made his international debut in the second World Cup Hockey Tournament in Amsterdam in 1973. He was a member of the Indian team which under the leadership of charismatic leader Ajit Pal Singh won the third World Cup Hockey Tournament at Kuala Lumpur in 1975. Mr. Surjit Singh also participated in the Fifth World Cup Hockey Tournament, the 1974 and 1978 Asian Games, 1976 Montreal Olympic Games Surjit Singh was acclaimed as one of the best full backs in the world. In 1973 he was included in the World Hockey XI Next year he was a member of the All-Star Hockey XI. Surjit Singh was also the top scorer-both in the Esanda International hockey Tournament at Perth in Australia and the 1978 Asian Games. During his hockey career Surjit Singh was concerned about players cause. Surjit Singh served the Indian Airlines for a few years. Later he joined the Punjab Police. It was tragic that Mr. Surjit Singh, after his retirement from the game, died in a road accident near Bidhipur in Jalandhar district. In Jalandhar, a hockey stadium is named after him. A hockey academy named after him is also being run by the Punjab Government. The society's fine functioning has given such impetus to the game in the region that bright and talented players are coming up in every age group. What better tribute will be to Surjit Singh who always considered it a sacred duty to fight for the cause of hockey and the players' rights. With the earnest efforts of the hockey loving people of Punjab & players like Olympian Mr. Pargat Singh Padmashree, MLA, Jalandhar cantt., who is presently Working President of the Surjit Hockey Society, jalandhar formed a Surjit Hockey Society, it started holding of Surjit Memorial Hockey Tournament at Jalandhar every year. Initially, tournament was started on grassy ground of Shri Guru Gobind Singh Stadium, Jalandhar with top teams of Northern India and the very first memorial tourney captured great crowd and hockey lovers commended the organization of tournament and Society earned great fame. Top teams from Pakistan, Russia, Bangladesh, Yugoslavia, Canada, England, America, Croatia, Malaysia etc. have participated in this tournament from time to time besides the famous top teams of our country in Men & Women section. The Society has tried its all-level best to keep the name & fame of the above Hockey Legend alive in the Country as well as world Over by providing utmost modern facilities to the participating teams and officials & also through innovation & improvements year after year. The Society with its earnest efforts have been able to get the name of the Stadium of Burlton Park, Jalandhar named as "Olympian Surjit Singh Hockey Stadium", which itself has elevated the Hockey Legend in the field of Sports. Not looking back, Society was able to get the name of native village of Surjit Singh "DAKHLA" changed as "Surjit Singh Wala", again a salute to the legend. Under the slogan “Watch Surjit Hockey--Win ALTO Car”, Every year, Surjit Hockey Society awarding a MARUTI ALTO Car, Motor Cycles, Refrigerators and LCDs to the spectators, who will come to witness the Surjit Hockey matches. The main idea is to attract & to create more interest amongst the general public, especially our youth for our national game of Hockey. The lucky draw for the ALTO Cars and other prizes will be held on after the final match. The Society also conducts the coaching camps for upcoming Hockey Lover Children every year to explore new "SURJIT" among them. The Society has not stopped here but have equally stepped ahead to help the poor and needy parents for the marriages of their wards and to help them to smile with Society. The Society has honoured eminent Hockey Stalwarts, Hockey Olympians, eminent sports persons & NRI's from time to time to remain in touch with the public. The Main attraction for the hockey lovers id that the Society does not levy any sort of gate money for the spectators get to witness excellent game of hockey. Thousands of spectators watch the hockey matches in the stadium and semi-finals on television sets. Thus it gives an opportunity the sponsors to advertise their products to the viewers. It goes beyond doubt to state here that the Society succeed in conveying their messages/slogans to promote & adopt hockey to the public through this tournament held every year, besides Punjab Hockey Association and Hockey India carefully observe the budding players do that the best can be chosen for state and national teams. Society has been honoured by hockey loving people of Punjab by way of extending continuous financial help and with their kind support, society has been able to provide maximum facilities to the participating teams on the pattern of International standards besides cash awards & other attractive prizes to best players amounting to Rs. 10.00 Lakhs. *Invitation to Indian Oil to be the main sponsor for the 43rd Surjit Hockey Tournament

*Surjit Hockey Society hands over sponsorship letter;

*Assurance of support for 100 kits and new LED scoreboard to players

Jalandhar, August 8 (. ): A four-member team of Surjit Hockey Society today met Indian Oil Executive Director and Punjab State Head Ashutosh Gupta and discussed in detail the preparations for the upcoming 43rd Surjit Hockey Tournament-2026.

On this occasion, the society has appointed Surinder Singh Bhapa (General Secretary), Iqbal Singh Sandhu (CEO), Ranbir Singh Tut (Honorary Secretary) and Opinder Singh Ghuman, IPS. (Retd.) who jointly handed over the sponsorship letter to IndianOil to become the main sponsor of this year’s 43rd tournament also.

IndianOil Executive Director and Punjab State Head Ashutosh Gupta appreciated the proud association between Surjit Hockey Society and Indian Oil for the last 37 years and said that both the organizations are continuously contributing to the development of hockey. The Society also thanked IndianOil for its long-standing support.

On this occasion, the Society demanded to provide sports kits to 100 hockey players and install a new big LED scoreboard at the Surjit Hockey Stadium, on which Ashutosh Gupta assured all possible help.

Surjit Hockey Society expressed hope that this strong association with IndianOil, which has been going on for 37 years, will continue in the future as well and will play a significant role in making the 43rd Surjit Hockey Tournament even more magnificent.

जालंधर, 8 अगस्त (। ) : सुरजीत हॉकी सोसाइटी, जालंधर ने आज इंडियन ऑयल के कार्यकारी निदेशक और पंजाब स्टेट हेड आशुतोष गुप्ता से मुलाकात कर आगामी 43वें सुरजीत हॉकी टूर्नामेंट-2026 की तैयारियों के संबंध में विस्तार से चर्चा की।

इस अवसर पर सोसाइटी की चार सदस्यीय टीम, जिसमें सुरेंद्र सिंह भापा (महासचिव), इकबाल सिंह संधू (सीईओ), रणबीर सिंह टुट (मानद सचिव) और ओपिंदर सिंह घुम्मन, आईपीएस (सेवानिवृत्त) शामिल थे, ने संयुक्त रूप से इंडियन ऑयल को इस वर्ष के 43वें टूर्नामेंट का मुख्य प्रायोजक बनने के लिए स्पॉन्सरशिप पत्र इंडियन ऑयल को सौंपा।

इंडियन ऑयल के कार्यकारी निदेशक और पंजाब स्टेट हेड आशुतोष गुप्ता ने सुरजीत हॉकी सोसाइटी और इंडियन ऑयल के बीच पिछले 37 वर्षों के गौरवशाली जुड़ाव की सराहना करते हुए कहा कि दोनों संस्थाएं हॉकी के विकास में लगातार योगदान दे रही हैं। सोसाइटी द्वारा भी इंडियन ऑयल के लंबे समय से चले आ रहे सहयोग के लिए आभार व्यक्त किया गया।

इस अवसर पर सोसाइटी द्वारा 100 हॉकी खिलाड़ियों को खेल किट उपलब्ध कराने और सुरजीत हॉकी स्टेडियम में एक नया बड़ा एलईडी स्कोर बोर्ड स्थापित करने की मांग रखी गई, जिस पर आशुतोष गुप्ता ने हर संभव मदद का आश्वासन दिया।

43rd Surjit Hockey Tournament in in November due to Asian Hockey

Jalandhar, August 4 ( ): In view of the Asian Hockey Champions Trophy-2026, the renowned 43rd Surjit Hockey Tournament will be organized this year in the second week of November instead of October. This decision was taken unanimously today in an executive body meeting held under the chairmanship of Varjeet Singh Walia, IAS, Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar who is also the President of Surjit Hockey Society.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the society Iqbal Singh Sandhu said that Hockey India had earlier allotted the dates of October 3 to 10, 2026 for the tournament. However, keeping in view the Asian Hockey Champions Trophy being organized by the Punjab Government at Surjit Hockey Stadium from October 25, it was decided to hold the tournament in November. He added that, as per tradition, the tournament will be held at the Surjit Hockey Stadium, Burlton Park, Jalandhar, which will be fully ready by then.

Sandhu informed that NRI Amolak Singh Gakhal (Gakhal Group, USA), who has been sponsoring the cash prize for the winning team for the past two decades, has agreed to increase the prize money from ₹5.50 lakh to ₹6.00 lakh this year. Along with this, the popular scheme for hockey fans “Watch Surjit Hockey – Win an Alto Car” will also continue this year as before.

He further said that Indian Oil, which has been the title sponsor of the tournament for the last 35 years, will continue as the title sponsor this year as well, and a delegation of the society will soon meet Indian Oil officials in this regard.

Working President of the society L.R. Nayar said that 14 top teams of the country will participate in the tournament. These include defending champions Indian Oil, Mumbai, runners-up Bharat Petroleum, Mumbai, Punjab Police, Jalandhar, Indian Railways, Indian Navy, RCF, Kapurthala, Punjab National Bank, Punjab & Sind Bank, BSF, Indian Army, CRPF, Indian Air Force, CAG, and ONGC.

On this occasion, Working President Lakhwinder Pal Singh Khaira said that during the final match of the tournament, the living players of the 1980 Moscow Olympic gold medal-winning Indian hockey team will be specially honored. In addition, Expressions of Interest (EOI) will be invited from television channels for live telecast of the semi-final and final matches.

The meeting was also attended by Ram Pratap (Senior Vice President), Surinder Singh Bhapa (General Secretary), Narinder Pal Singh Judge (Vice President), and Karandeep Singh.

​Last evening, members of the Surjit Hockey Society had a truly wonderful gathering with Mr. Varjeet Singh Walia, IAS, DC, Jalandhar & President, Surjit Hockey Society, at the PAP Golf Club.

He leaves behind a monumental legacy in the sporting world as the visionary behind the iconic, world-renowned hockey brand, "Indian Maharadja."

Passing of Mr. Anil D. Mehta of iconic hockey brand, "Indian Maharadja," and Founder Member, Surjit Hockey Society, Jalandhae.

​It is with profound grief and deep sorrow that we announce the sad demise of Mr. Anil D. Mehta, Managing Director of D.D. Mehta & Company, Basti Nau, Jalandhar, who passed away peacefully this morning.

​Mr. Mehta was a highly respected sports entrepreneur and a passionate promoter of hockey. He was widely celebrated for his iconic hockey brand, "Indian Maharadja," which earned immense recognition within the sporting fraternity both across India and internationally.

​As a Founder Member of the Surjit Hockey Society, Jalandhar, Mr. Mehta was instrumental in a legacy that has successfully organized India's prestigious Surjit Hockey Tournament since 1984. His invaluable contributions to the promotion and development of the sport will forever be remembered with immense respect and gratitude.

​Details regarding the funeral date and time will be communicated shortly.

ਸੁਰਜੀਤ ਹਾਕੀ ਸੁਸਾਇਟੀ ਦੇ ਸੰਵਿਧਾਨ ਮੁਤਾਬਕ ਜਲੰਧਰ ਦੇ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨਰ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਸਾਇਟੀ ਦਾ ਸਰਪ੍ਰਸਤ ਥਾਪਣ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰੋਵਿਜਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ । ਅੱਜ ਸੁਸਾਇਟੀ ਦੇ ਐੱਲ.ਆਰ. ਨਈਅਰ ਤੇ ਲਖਵਿੰਦਰ ਪਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਖਹਿਰਾ (ਵਰਕਿੰਗ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ), ਇਕਬਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਸੰਧੂ (ਸੀ. ਈ .ਓ.), ਸੁਰਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਭਾਪਾ (ਜਨਰਲ ਸਕੱਤਰ), ਨਰਿੰਦਰ ਪਾਲ।ਸਿੰਘ ਜੱਜ (ਮੀਤ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ) ਅਤੇ ਰਣਬੀਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਟੁੱਟ (ਸਕੱਤਰ) ਨੇ ਜਲੰਧਰ ਦੇ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨਰ ਸਤਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਕੇ ਸਰਪ੍ਰਸਤ ਨਿਯੁਕਤੀ ਦਾ ਪੱਤਰ ਸੌਂਪਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਰਜੀਤ ਹਾਕੀ ਸੁਸਾਇਟੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਉਪਲਬਧੀਆਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਦੇਣ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ ਅਕਤੂਬਰ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਣ ਵਾਲੇ 43ਵੇਂ ਇੰਡੀਅਨ ਆਇਲ ਸੁਰਜੀਤ ਹਾਕੀ ਟੂਰਨਾਮੈਂਟ ਦੀ ਤਿਆਰੀਆਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ । ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਉਪਰ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨਰ, ਜਲੰਧਰ ਸਤਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਸੁਰਜੀਤ ਹਾਕੀ ਸੁਸਾਇਟੀ ਦੀ ਸਰਪ੍ਰਸਤੀ ਪ੍ਰਵਾਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਸੁਰਜੀਤ ਹਾਕੀ ਸੁਸਾਇਟੀ ਦੇਸ਼ ਦੀ ਇੱਕ ਨਾਮੀ ਹਾਕੀ ਸੰਸਥਾ ਹੈ, ਇੱਕ ਦੀਆਂ ਹਾਕੀ ਦੇ ਖੇਤਰ ਵਿਚ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾ ਅਹਿਮ ਯੋਗਦਾਨ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ । ਉਹਨਾਂ ਅੱਗੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਸੁਸਾਇਟੀ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਜੋਂ ਸੁਰਜੀਤ ਹਾਕੀ ਅਕੈਡਮੀ ਦੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂਆਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ, ਵਿੱਚ 4 ਸਾਲ ਤੋਂ ਲੈਕੇ 18 ਸਾਲ ਤਕ ਉਮਰ ਤਕ ਦੇ 125 ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਖਿਡਾਰੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਮੂਲੀਅਤ ਦੇਖਦੇ ਹੋਏ, ਜਿਸ ਢੰਗ ਨਾਲ ਖਿਡਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਓਲੰਪੀਅਨ, ਦਰੋਣਾਚਾਰੀਆ ਅਵਾਰਡੀ ਅਤੇ ਤਜ਼ਰਬੇਕਾਰ ਕੋਚਾਂ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਟ੍ਰੇਨਿੰਗ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ, ਅਵੱਸ਼ ਹੀ ਇਸ ਦੇ ਭਵਿੱਖ ਵਿਚ ਚੰਗੇ ਨਤੀਜੇ ਨਿਕਲਣਗੇ। ਪੁਲੀਸ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨਰ ਨੇ ਸੁਸਾਇਟੀ ਮੈਂਬਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਸਾਇਟੀ ਤੇ ਹਾਕੀ ਦੀ ਖੇਡ ਦੀ ਤਰੱਕੀ ਲਈ ਹਰ ਸੰਭਵ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਦੇਣ ਦਾ ਯਕੀਨ ਦਿਵਾਇਆ । ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਉਪਰ ਜਲੰਧਰ ਦੇ ਡੀਸੀਪੀ ਮਨਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਸਨਮਾਨਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ।
