2. You were recently treated with antibiotics
3. You have a recent piercing or tattoo
4. If donor consumed alcohol within the last 24 hours before blood donation.

6. As for smoking, you shouldn’t smoke within the last 4 hours before blood donation."

1. Keep the strip bandage on for the next six hours; to avoid a skin rash, clean the area around the bandage with soap and water.
2. Don’t do any heavy lifting or vigorous exercise for the rest of the day.
3. If the needle site starts to bleed, apply pressure and raise your arm straight up for 5-10 minutes or until bleeding stops.

2. Get a good night's sleep the night before your donation.
3. Drink an extra 500ml of water (or other nonalcoholic drink) before your appointment.
