*Arunachal Arm Wrestler Wins Gold at National Championship*
The All Arunachal Pradesh Arm Wrestling Association (AAPAWA) participated in the recently concluded 4th People's Arm Wrestling Federation India (PAFI) National Arm Wrestling and Para Armwrestling Championship–2026, organized by Arm Wrestling Sports Association Gujarat under the aegis of PAFI. The championship was held in Gandhinagar from 29 May to 2 June 2026.
Arunachal Pradesh achieved a significant milestone through Mr. Remdo Gao, who clinched the Gold Medal in the 55 kg Junior Boys (Left Arm) category. Demonstrating exceptional strength and determination, Remdo emerged victorious after defeating 23 opponents in his category. With this remarkable achievement, he has qualified to represent India at the World Arm Wrestling Championship, scheduled to be held in New Delhi in September 2026.
Remdo Gao is the son of Smt. Oisi Taki Gao and Shri Orem Gao and hails from Pasighat in East Siang District.
Another notable performance came from Mr. Nanang Giri, who secured 4th place in the Youth Boys and Senior Men 65 kg (Left Arm) categories.
A 28-member contingent, including players and officials, represented Arunachal Pradesh at the prestigious national event. The championship witnessed the participation of approximately 1,800 arm wrestlers from 24 states across India, making it one of the largest arm wrestling competitions in the country.

Senior Women: Madhura Hassan (Karnataka)
Youth Boys: Aville (Nagaland)
Youth Girls: Olivia (Mizoram)
Junior Girls: Joshya (Kerala)
Sub-Junior Boys: Rajiv Nanda (Delhi)
Sub-Junior Girls: Akleena Mehjabeen (Kerala)
The Arunachal Pradesh contingent was led by Mr. Bamang Bai, Joint Secretary of AAPAWA, who served as Team Manager, and Ms. Katu Yomcha, Treasurer of AAPAWA, who served as Team Captain.
AAPAWA President Smt. Pakjar Taipodia also attended the championship, continuing her unwavering support for the state's athletes. She personally monitored the team's participation throughout the event and provided encouragement and moral support to the players, reflecting her commitment to the growth and development of arm wrestling in Arunachal Pradesh.
