" What Is The Vision ? " : Indian Commentator Sanjay Manjrekar Furious Over AFG ODI Squad Selection

He Said : " Sai Sudharsan has already scored a couple of fifties opening for India in ODIs, while Yashasvi Jaiswal’s last ODI knock was an unbeaten 116, yet neither of them are playing. Instead, the selectors have backed a veteran whose fitness remains under scrutiny and whose form has clearly dipped. What exactly is the thinking behind this move? What long-term vision does it serve?

If the selectors felt forced to bring Rohit Sharma back for any reason, the least they owed Jaiswal was a phone call and an apology.

He Further Said : " Here is a young batter who has delivered at the highest level, is entering his prime, and has an enormous future ahead of him. India already have a ready-made top three in Gill, Sai Sudharsan, and Jaiswal, but instead of investing in them, the team management has gone back to Rohit Sharma. At least in Virat Kohli’s case, there is still some argument to be made.

Joe Root Admits England Will Keep Facing Questions Until They Beat India And Australia.

He Said : " Until we manage to beat Australia, a lot of people will continue to have doubts. In the end, our performances against India and Australia are what define how we’re judged.

Representing England is always the biggest priority, and right now our full attention is on the present. A new phase is beginning for us, and this summer brings some major challenges along with plenty of work to do.

He Concluded : " But yes, until we overcome India and Australia, people will keep questioning us as a team. I completely understand that.

Former Indian Team Head Coach Rahul Dravid Feels Bazball Needs Better Game Control Against Elite Teams

He Said : " Sometimes I feel a little bit for McCullum because, from my interactions and conversations with him, I don’t think he really likes the term ‘Bazball.’

I think the way England play is exciting, there’s no doubt the game is moving in that direction. As a tactic, I have no issue with aggression and taking the game on, because young players naturally want to play that way.

He Further Said : " The key thing is balance, recognising that in certain conditions and against certain opposition, once you’ve gained control, you may need to slow the game down a bit and manage the tempo better.

England, even when I coached against them, showed moments of absolute brilliance and played some superb cricket in patches. But they haven’t been able to sustain it long enough against the very best teams, like India or Australia. There were phases in the Test series in India where they had us under pressure and played outstanding cricket. But maybe they couldn’t maintain that level for long enough.

He Concluded : " Against good teams, if you’re ahead, you can’t leave the door open. If you give them a chance to come back, they will. England just haven’t been able to completely shut strong sides out of the game. And once those teams get ahead, they rarely give you another opportunity."

Jason Gillespie Blasts Kevin Pietersen For Attacking Alastair Cook In IPL vs County Debate.

He Said : " The audacity of Sir Alastair Cook to come out with something like that. KP has totally gone overboard, claiming Cook’s opinion holds no value because he never played in the IPL and wouldn’t get it.

I believe Sir Alastair Cook raised a valid point, but the way KP tore into him simply for expressing an opinion, spare me, lads. Complete nonsense."

He Added : " He thinks he would’ve ended up with 150-plus Tests and says he opened the door for others. Cheers, Kevin, for the stars, the sun, the moon, the ground beneath our feet, and the air we breathe. For you, Kev, it was always about the money. Give it a rest, you muppet."

WHAT WAS THE FUSS ?

After seeing Jacob Bethell spend several IPL matches on the bench, Alastair Cook said he should return home and play county cricket.

Kevin Pietersen responded by saying Bethell can still learn a lot in the IPL environment, adding that Cook wouldn’t understand because he never played in the league. KP also claimed England players can play in the IPL today because of him. Jason Gillespie has now reacted to the debate.

Australia Head Coach Andrew McDonald, Warns Franchise Cricket Threat Is Real, Says Australia And India Still Value Tests.

He Said : " The franchise risk is real, players have more options. There need to be serious discussions between the ICC and cricket boards worldwide, but from Australia’s point of view, Test cricket remains strong because our players still want to play the format.

The same can be said about India, which is extremely important for the game. But the franchise cricket landscape is very real, and anyone ignoring it needs to open their eyes to the changing reality of modern cricket."

Former Pakistan Cricketer Shoaib Malik Suggests Way To Raise Pakistan’s Test Cricket Standards.

He Said : " To strengthen our red-ball cricket, we need to provide rewarding long-format contracts to specialist players. It is the best way to keep them dedicated to the traditional format, as it would ensure they play at least five first-class matches every season. It would also prevent players from unnecessarily altering their natural style of play or prioritising franchise cricket.

He Added : " At the international level, incomplete skills are exposed quickly. We need fully dedicated players who are properly prepared for the challenge."

"I Want India To Be The Best" Says Former Indian Captain Rohit Sharma.

He Said : " I want India to become the dominant force in world cricket, that’s the ultimate goal. I want India to be the very best, and cricket holds a special place in that vision.

What we’ve achieved over the past three years has been incredible to witness, from the 2024 World Cup and Women’s World Cup to the U19 World Cup, ICC Champions Trophy, and another T20 World Cup. I hope this winning momentum continues."

"Jofra Archer Barely Even Talks About It” Says Rajasthan Royals Assistant Coach Trevor Penney On Criticism Of Archer For Missing The First Test Against New Zealand Due To The IPL.

He Said : " I’ve seen some of those reports. It’s a bit strange because this is a massive tournament. Everyone knows the IPL is the place to be. So, if he ends up missing a match for England, then that’s just the way it is. I reckon that’s probably his mindset.

I don’t think it really affects him. He might feel slightly frustrated, but I can’t really speak on his behalf. He’s just carrying on normally. He’s barely brought it up, and the rest of the lads haven’t discussed it either. At the end of the day, it is what it is.

He Further Added : " You either decide to remain here and upset people back home, or you head back early and risk disappointing people here in india and possibly shut the door on returning to the IPL in the future."

Note : Jofra Archer will sit out the first Test against New Zealand as England look to carefully manage his workload following a demanding IPL campaign, a move that has drawn criticism from several former cricketers in the country.

Nasser Hussain And Michael Atherton In Recent Sky Sports Podcast, Have Urged England Captain Ben Stokes To Reduce Excessive Experimentation In The Nets And Instead Get More Competitive Match Practice Ahead Of The Test Summer.

Atherthon Said : " I think that pretty much sums up Stokes’ game and his batting, he has simply lacked a bit of game time in general, and there are various reasons for that.

He’s had injuries, including a fractured cheekbone and others, but he’s someone who doesn’t necessarily like playing matches outside of internationals.

He Added : " That point about over-practising in the nets and not having enough competitive game time is a fair one. The issue with Stokes is that, because he can’t bowl, he spends a lot of time batting in the nets while being injured and focusing on net practice.

Nasser Joined Him : He tends to over-tinker with his game. About 18 months ago, he even went through a phase where he tried adopting Harry Brook’s very upright stance, even though Ben has a naturally good rhythm in his batting.

He keeps adjusting his position at the crease and changing his triggers, constantly making small changes.
At this stage of his career, he’s probably tinkering too much. He should settle on a technique, trust his natural game, and stop making unnecessary adjustments.

He Added : " Also, no matter how experienced a player is, you still need regular competitive game time. You can’t always just switch it on like a tap, some players can do it better than others, but even the best benefit from match practice."
